When driving lately it feels like there is something rubbing. Its hard to describe but its like a juddering rubbing feels coming from the car. Any ideas as hope its not serious. Also when cold the idle seems a bit rough.

I have this same intermittent noise on my 99 986. I was at a loss as to how to describe it until now, juddering. It is almost like a sonic rubbing sound/sensation and seems to be coming from the front. It is annoying but passengers don't seem to notice it. I had my independent drive the car and he acknowledges that there is a noise but found nothing after a thorough check of the brakes and front suspension. I've checked everything that I could think of and couldn't find the cause either. I've lived with it for a year now and just turn the radio up. Please post the solution if you find one.

How old are your tires and when was the last time they were balanced and the car aligned? You tires may be experiencing "cupping" which could account for the noises.

si2040, Did you ever find the solution to your juddering/rubbing noise? My noise or maybe just a feeling isn't the tires and I haven't found anything else that isn't working as it should.
