Boxster rear spoiler

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help? On my Boxter 3.2S 2001 model my rear spoiler on occasions is staying up when i turn my engine off, when i drive again it seems to reset it self.

Also the light on my instrument panel does not light up when up, whether going up automatically or manually by the switch. The light does light up when engine is started though.

I am having the same issue with respect to the light.... with additional issues. I have a 97 Boxster and the rear spoiler does not open or retract while driving. When I first get in the car and start it up.... the spoiler light is on. After I start moving, the light goes out right away. When driving, the spoiler does not open and retract... at any speed... even while doing 85mph. BUT, the manual button works and the spoiler opens and retracts. When open, the light does not come on. So, I looked at the spoiler more in depth and saw that someone (probably while in a parking lot at the mall) tapped the rear bumper and pushed the bumper in ever so slightly... just enought to cause a metal plate to scrape up against the apoiler. This does not keep the spoiler from moving up or down while using the manual button. So, that's my issue and any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you manually raise the spoiler with the switch on the fuse cover the spoiler will stay raised until you reach 70 mph and then slow down to 50.

If you drive around without breaching the 70 mph mark, it will stay raised.

Also, when you start the car the spoiler light should be on until you reach 3 mph, when it turns off.

After the light goes off it should not go back on regardless of the spoiler's position.

A spoiler light ON indicates an error in the system.

Happy Boxstering,

Pedro
