yes, another coolant leak post

Recommended Posts

Ive got a slight coolant leak on the passenger side, just within the wheel well, that Im trying to track down without stripping things apart. Its not coming from the center area where the water pump is. Its not coming from the back of the motor, in fact, it doesnt even seem to be dripping on to the under pan.

I noticed a small amount of wetness around the base of the coolant tank (where the coolant is poured). Are the tanks known to get cracks or is there a hose that may be loosly attached to it? Its too dark and cold out for me to whip out the sockets so Im hoping some of you have an idea so I can get to it tomorrow or the weekend.

Thanks!!

I believe I have heard of some faults with the coolant tank (cracking) as well as issues with the rad cap (seen somewhere recently a post regarding the newest cap number) Best is to remove all the plastic and clean it up and start searching, maybe someone else can chime in with more information.

I have a 2005 CTT with the same issue, a small water leak that appears to be coming out of the bottom of the coolant reservoir and then dripping down the inside of the fender. I am hoping someone could share some information from their experiences with this issue. Is it likely a cracked reservoir or possibly a cracked hose underneath it? I checked the one hose clamp that you can reach for the hose going up to the bottom of the reservoir. I keep it full with distilled water when it gets low, but I really just want to get it fixed.... BTW if anyone is interested in a very nice 2005 black CTT with Black supple leather/Rootwood interior please let me know, 105k miles very clean car looks amazing with color matched factory 20" sport wheels, trailer hitch and Turbo S exhaust Tips, all freeway miles, runs great but moving out of country to Italy... $26,000 must sell ASAP!
