PCM1 pinout for power please?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am experimenting with the PCM1 unit (it's sitting on my table). I am planning to fit an Android based device inside

instead of a tape deck. It's a Becker BE2580 with Siemens NAV unit. Car is 996 TT MY2002.

Now, I faced a sort of a stupid problem, I cannot make the unit power up. :)

I have PCM1 pinout (http://home.no/zxcv/pcm1/),

so using it I connected GND to PIN8 of slot A, +12v constant power to PIN4 of slot A, and

also switched +12v power to pins 2 and 3 of Slot II. This is sort of confirmed by 996 TT wiring diagrams that I

have in pdf format. However, the unit is dark, no sign of life. Pushed the volume button, of course.

Tried PIN7 of slot A for switched +12v (which is standard for many Beckers) but no success. Tried them

all together too.

Anyone, please help me out?

Found it. Apart from +12v on terminal 2 and terminal 3 of plug II, also need to supply +12v to terminal 26 of plug I.

And terminal 4 of plug A, of course. Then the unit powers up on press of right front knob for code entry.

My mistake was in wrong count of terminals. Plugs I and II use sequential counting as opposed to Plug A, which uses

interleaved.

Hi AOG,

I have a problem where my PCM 1 screen failed. I still had the last radio channel but i daren't change anything for fear of losing it. I got another unit off ebay where the screen worked but it did not talk to any peripherals such as CD, anyway I removed the screen from one and put it in the other, plugged all the connectors back in and now I get nothing, the power button turning on does not work. Any ideas or am i up the creek.

cheers

Steve G
