2008 Cayenne S xenon low beam issue 955-631-194-00

Recommended Posts

Well the gift that keeps on giving is back again.

My passenger side light has been giving issues for about 3 weeks.  The lights will suddenly go off on the passenger side Xenon and I would get a "Low beam" warning on the dash.

For the last couple of weeks. Simply turning off the light and turning it back on would resolve the issue.

Then as of this week that stopped working all the time.

First thing I did was to buy new D1S  bulb  and change it. FAILED

I then swapped the new bulb with the existing bulb on the driver side. FAILED.

I then used the passenger side bulb that wasn't working on the driver side and it worked. WTF not the bulb then!

So based on that I'm thinking something else is wrong.

I swapped the ballasts from the driver side to the passenger side and the light worked and the problem followed the passenger ballast to the Driver side. WTH X2

I called my locals for the price of a new ballast and I'm being told that it's $699. WTH???? Seven hundred dollars? WTH X700

They then tell me I have to replace both sides for $1400 as the original part number 95563119400 is now updated to 95563119403. WTH X1400.

Firstly why would a simple control module cost 700?

Secondly is there a way to source an aftermarket version or used on? Any ideas?

I've read somewhere that it might just be that my current ballast might need to be reprogrammed, is that ture?

Thirdly if I got a new one, any idea if I have to then still have it reprogrammed?

The dealerships in my area are just outright stealerships.
