Thickest wheel spacers on a 996?

Hi, I drive a 1998 996 narrow body with 285 tyres on the rear. I'm thinking about spacers merely for appearance, to widen the track. I believe Porsche officially only reccommend up to 5mm all round with this tyre size, but what's the thickest anyone has, that has not affected performance in any way???

I would stick with the 5MM. I have them with 285s and love them. But, if it is bling you are after, then as wide as you want to go is fine.

A lot of people with 7mm on front and 15 or 17 on the rear....

Subtle, but still noticeable. I didn't take any pics of the rear though. Somebody over on Rennlist though posted pics of his 17mm spacer on the rear runnning with a 10x18 rim and 285 rubber. STUCK OUT! Didn't look good. My suggestions is either the factory 5's or aftermarket 7's.

It all depends on what offset you are starting with on the wheels. LV, your front wheels look like they stick out a lot more before the spacer than turbo-twist-look wheels that came stock on my car. What offset are they?

8x18 ET50 running 225 rubber.

Did you maybe have a 7.5x18 rim? My original Sport Designs were 7.5 and sat in a bit further.

I have settled on 6mm all round with GT bolts and lockers. They look great, flush with the arches now. I tried 9mm and 18 mm before but the 18s stuck out too far and the 9s didn't work because the wheels would not centralise mainly because the spacer took up all of the central hub that the wheel usually locates on. It felt like running on oval wheels.
