Sirius installation in my 2000 C2. Sound is deprecated.

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I had Sirius installed in my 996 and had it hardwired into the head unit (CR220) using the AUX port and the mp3 player AUX cable I purchased from Becker. I also had a ground loop isolator installed because I was getting some crosstalk.

After the ground loop isolator was installed, the Sirius sound is very poor and has a lot of treble. When I switch the Sirius unit to use the FM transmitter, it sounds fine.

Is there some setting that I am missing to help fix this? I checked the manual and followed the directions that came with the cable to no avail.

I am not really a technical car guy and the installation was "professionally" done. I also noticed this issue after the ground loop isolator was installed.

Any help would be much appreciated!

One thing that I noticed is that when I switch to AUX and press the tone button, there is no option for stereo. Is this normal?

Where did you Purchase your ground loop isolator? .... and, is it an inline RCA ground loop or mini jack isolator?

There are ways around ground loop besides using an isolator...

I actually had it professionally installed. I am not sure what type of ground loop isolator it is.

Radio shack, believe it or not, makes a good inline RCA isolator. The other option is to hard ground the radio to the car, this can be accomplished with speaker cable running from a screw on the cars chassis to a screw on the Sattelite radio device. This will definitely eliminate all "hums" which are often caused by interference feeding into the line. IF you had it professionally installed, i would take it back... there should be little to no degredation in the sound.

I just ordered a aux cable from becker so I can use the cd changer wiring for XM radio, and i noticed there are RCA wires from the CDC-3 changer. Can I use these? I actually was planning on use the terk commander head unit and and tuner box. This would give me a digital signal correct? Or am I trying to do more than can be done with the system. I have the upgraded bose system that sounds really good with a CD, so i was hoping for the same quality with the XM set up

If anyone is interested I purchased the aux cable from becker, but ended up not needing it. I simply disconnected the wires to my CDC-3 and used those RCA wires to connect to the terk XM commander. When I turned the radio on it came up as AUX and was all set. This is on a 2002 C2 coupe with the bose system
