Installed a different turn signal stalk: no resolution.

I wonder if at higher speeds, the asymmetrical design of the spokes creates a “drag” on one side of the car!

That's easy - take one out of the circuit and put 12 volts across it. It will either honk or not.
The horns are cheap and a know failure point.

Thank you Loren, and as expected : both horns were dead ( along with the first used but genuine replacement). Had to get a new aftermarket .

A period after struggling with steering wheel screws, and doing the described fix, horn stopped working completely, blown fuse was found and replaced, still no horn, relay removed and tested ( despite hearing the clicking) all good, now the only logical thing left is the two horns themselves, problem is I have the 996 with the Aero kit, is removing the bumper as straight forward as the regular one?

My parking spot for the 996 requires a slow sharp left hand turn, and on occasion I hear a groaning noise from the driver's side front end of the car (that is different from the usual steering pump noise when making sharp turns).

what do I need to look for before things get worse ?

I pulled out the cassette holder and was able to fish out that phone plug, then used tiny alligator clamps to access the switched and ground wires...worked like a charm.

To add a twist to things: I have a dash cam that is powered by the usual 5v usb that plugs into the 12v socket.

The problem here is if I am to hardwire it into the switched plug you kindly referred to, how to circumvent the difference in voltage?

Had something similar, turned out to be a leaky expansion tank's cap, dealer was nice enough to mail me a new one, since I had them install the tank (including the a new cap) a year ago.

I can send a 996 Aerokit photo photo if that will help ( 99 Carrera)
