A period after struggling with steering wheel screws, and doing the described fix, horn stopped working completely, blown fuse was found and replaced, still no horn, relay removed and tested ( despite hearing the clicking) all good, now the only logical thing left is the two horns themselves, problem is I have the 996 with the Aero kit, is removing the bumper as straight forward as the regular one? My parking spot for the 996 requires a slow sharp left hand turn, and on occasion I hear a groaning noise from the driver's side front end of the car (that is different from the usual steering pump noise when making sharp turns). what do I need to look for before things get worse ? Had something similar, turned out to be a leaky expansion tank's cap, dealer was nice enough to mail me a new one, since I had them install the tank (including the a new cap) a year ago.
