  1. Found this: http://www.partshutinc.com/2010IMPORTCHEMICALS_011.pdf It suggests that one has silicates and one does not....
  2. Thanks Loren - Is the VW / Audi coolant the same stuff?
  3. What colour is the coolant in my car supposed to be? (2001 996TT) - would a 996 C4 be any different? Thanks, Derek
  4. No such problems on either my C4 or TT - I have had bleeder valve issues (it blocks) and oil is pushed out past the seals when it heats up and pressurises the case. I would try ebay for a diff....
  5. I replaced the RMS in my TT at 67,000 miles - was doing the clutch anyway, but the seal was leaking...
  6. Hi - Does anyone know how to make the collapsible spare tire collapse back to its original size? I let the air out, but it doesn't completely return to its original size... :-( Thanks, Derek
  7. The seat bolts to the rails at the back of the seat - if you fully raise the seat and look from the back, you should be able to see these bolts. Other than that, I can't imagine why you would be getting as much movement....
  8. Hi - What specifically are you refering to in your photo? (On initial glance, nothing looks out of place...)
  9. Hi - I removed the oil today from the front diff. As I undid the fill plug, there was a hissing sound as air either entered or escaped from the diff. This suggests to me that the vent / bleeder is blocked. The housing is also damp with oil which appears to have come throught the shaft seals - which would be understandable if the diff the became pressurised as the oil heated up.... Has anyone experienced this before? Has anyone changed the bleed valve before? Thanks, Derek
  10. Thanks - which service information book in particular did you get this from?
  11. I have had the dual mass flywheel in my 996TT refaced. This was done by a shop with experience in this area - they locked the two halves together (from memory there are some threads in the flywheel to 'jack' one half against the other). Then they 'clocked it' to ensure that the locking process had maintained the alignment of the two planes - then they milled / ground the surface. In doing so I ended up with a flat flywheel surface (slight taper that had been there was no longer) - from memory about 4 thou was removed. The clutch feels great. Before doing this, I had a couple of experts confirm that the torrsional rubber was still ok....
  12. It is behind the heater / ac box under the dash - not the easiest thing to get to...
  13. Thanks Loren - Where do you get this stuff from? I really appreciate your help! Regards, Derek
  14. Thanks - Australian emission requirements are very similar to California - the tank I have came from a wrecked car in the UK - also 2001 model - I am surprised that the connections are so different. Loren do you know the logic behind the valve - ie under what conditions it is open and when it is closed? Regards, Derek
  15. Loren - thanks - you are right (it goes to the carbon canister) - do you know the purpose of the valve? Jpflip - I am converting the car from Left Hand to Right Hand Drive - hence the need to change the fuel tank and the sheetmetal surrounding it. The RHD tank that I have has a slighlty different arrangement - there is no blue circle, just a connection point higher up on the tank. To incorporate the valve, I need to make up a special bracked and find some elbows to put in the line - I am just trying to determine how important it is / what it does.... Would anyone have a logic diagram for all the vents connected to the tank? Thanks, Derek
  16. Hi - Can anyone help me identify the items circled in the attached photo? Thanks in advance! Derek
  17. Which car year and model (911's have four windows)? Regards, Maurice. 2001 TT (996) - I am not sure about your four window comment....
  18. Hi - I have the window stuck down and the motor is not working. Therefore, I can't remove the speaker box (to get to the lift motor) as its rear section is restrained by the glass..... Suggestions? Thanks, Derek
  19. Does the car have an electronic throttle? - if so, problem may be linked to carbon build up in the throttle body - not difficult to clean yourself...
  20. Hi - Could someone possibly direct me to information or explain to me how to change the master cylinder. The main uncertainty I have is how to disconnect the pressure line from the cylinder on the firewall.... Thanks, Derek
  21. I am currently converting my 996 TT from LHD to RHD and looking for some RHD parts - preferably in Australia, but if someone can recommend a good wrecker somewhere else in the RHD part of the world, then I would greatly appreciate it....
  22. Hello - I am hoping that someone may be able to help me - Why do some seat belt anchors have four electrical pins on their connectors, some have two and some have none....? I assume one set (in the drivers seat) is for the seat belt warning light - what would the others be for? Thanks, Derek
