  1. I need to change the mirror glass - I have the manual and I know what it says, but I don't know how to get the glass out without breaking it.... I feel that it will break if i pull it hard enough to unclip it.... Has anyone done this before? Thanks, Derek
  2. Hi - Does anyone have any experience with these seats? (Refer link to one of many sellers below) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RK%3AMEWAX%3AIT I am wondering what their quality and safety is like. Regards, Derek
  3. What do you want to achieve? If you lift the wing and then remove the wing, you can then remove each ram independently from the engine lid. Once the ram is removed, you can remove the circlip at the wing end - be careful as the spring will jump out at you. Then the rams are in pieces and can be rebuilt - if you can find suitable generic parts...
  4. What color is your air filter. If it is red it is a cleanable K&N filter and the oil is normal since you have to applied oil after cleaning it... If you do some search on the net you will found ways to get the MAF cleaned but I got my doubt about the efficiency of the cleaning process. But I know some people who succeeded. Sorry Wross we answer almost at the same time... It is a K&N filter and the oil is slightly red in colour... I don't know the specific code, but the number related to an O2 sensor fault (according to the workshop)
  5. Hi - I have just commenced a major service on my TT and have found that the air filter is quiet damp with oil - is this normal? How does the oil get here? The car also has a O2 sensor fault which has been suggested to me may be a faulty MAF sensor confussing the ECU. Would it be possible that the MAF sensor also has some oil on it and this may be messing with the way it senses air flow? Can the MAF sensor be cleaned? Thanks, Derek
  6. Hi - Does anyone know how much to torque up these bolts? Are these bolts different on a 996 TT? Thanks, Derek
  7. Hi - I am needing to buy a new clutch for my 2001 TT. The clutch kit for the GT3 uses the same pressure plate and bearing, but a different disk... The GT3 kit is significantly cheaper and I was wondering if anyone had used it....?? Thanks, Derek
  8. Hi - I am just after a stock clutch and flywheel...
  9. Parts are cheaper from Sunset... Check the condition of the clutch fork....
  10. Hi - Can anyone recommend (or not) any clutch suppliers as an option to the Porsche genuine parts? Thanks, Derek
  11. Hi Everyone, Please refer the attached photo.... Several months ago, the clutch pedal went hard in my 2001 TT and the car stayed in gear (there is a previous post on the subject). I have finally got around to removing the slave cylinder and have found that the shaft (which works on the clutch fork) to be broken. It appears to be a fatigue failure of the shaft. I am assuming that the other bit is somewhere in the bell housing.... Has anyone come across this problem before? Is it an indication of a bigger problem? Thanks, Derek
  12. Hi - What fluid should I use in my clutch system and is it available other than from Prosche - It has something like 'Pestion' written on the cap.... Thanks, Derek
  13. Hi - This might sound like a silly question, but.... I want to end up with the car about 2 foot in the air with all wheels off the ground. I have jack stands and a trolley jack etc, but I don't know where else I can jack the car up (other than the four points - behind the front wheels / infront of the rear wheels) and it is these points where the jack stands should go (I believe). Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks, Derek
  14. Hi - The pad wear warning light comes on, but there is plenty of meat on the pads. The rotors are badly worn - is this likely to be the cause of the problem? Thanks, Derek
  15. Hi - 2001 TT - the above warning comes up on the screen - is this likely to a failed fan motor or a wiring fault or something else? Thanks, Derek
  16. Fluid level is fine (full) - I guess that surprised me a little bit.... What does the accumulator do?
  17. Hi - I was driving my 2001 TT the other day and on a second to third shift, I pressed the clutch pedal down and it stayed stuck to the floor, but the clutch did not disengage. I slowed and the engine eventually stalled and I came to stop (car in third gear, clutch pedal 'locked' to the floor). It felt as if the gear lever was locked in gear, but with a good yank, it popped into neutral and and all gates appear to be there (and car rolls). By hand, I pulled the clutch pedal off the floor and now it is in the normal position, but rock hard - I can't push it down at all. Any suggestions? Thanks, Derek
  18. Hi - I am looking to buy a 996TT in the US and ship it back to Australia. I have a car in mind, but I can't get CarFax to accept my Australian Credit Card. Does anyone have a CarFax membership and if so, would you mind please checking the following Vin No for me: WP0AB29931S687184 I would very much appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks, Derek
  19. Hi - Thanks for all the advice - for the record I have just checked the owners manual - there is no reference to the fuel tank with respect to changing the battery.... Can I fix this myself? Derek
  20. Hi Folks, I have just changed the battery in my car (99 C4) and now the fuel gauge has an error in it. Prior to changing the battery, the fuel gauge read at 1/4 full. With the new battery fitted, the gauge was on empty and warning light was illuminated. I went and filled the car up (I made absolutely sure that it was full) and the gauge now reads 3/4 full. Switching the car on / off makes no difference to the situation. Any suggestions? Thanks, Derek
  21. Hi - My instrument cluster needs to be replaced. If I change it, will my odometer reading change? Thanks, Derek
  22. Hi Folks, My '99 C4 hunts at idle when it is warm - sometimes.... A couple of quick taps of the accelerator usually makes the problem go away for a minute or so. The car does it only when it is warm and the size of the fluctuations are reduced when the ac is on. This car is fitted with the e-gas system. Any suggestions / thoughts, would be appreciated. Derek
  23. Hi All - I have a ticking sound coming from the engine bay with the car idling. At first I thought it was a leaf stuck in the cooling fan, but on opening the engine bay, the noise seems to be coming from the altenator - it is a higher frequency that the tappet noise.... Any ideas? Thanks, Derek
  24. My '99 C4 - It has 18" wheels fronts are 225/40 rears are 285/30 where sticker under the hood suggests that they should be 265/35. What impact would this have on the 4WD system? Hope that someone can help me. Derek
