  1. Hi - My car hunts sometimes at idle - it idles at 600rpm (on the tacho), but every 10 seconds or so the idle speed increases (to about 800rpm) and then drops back to 600rpm. It doesn't do it all the time.... This is a C4 fitted with the electronic throttle. Any ideas? Thanks, Derek
  2. Thanks - How do I search for a TSB? Sorry - I am new to all this....
  3. Thanks - one was and one wasn't - I can't imagine how it got this way - I haven't test driven the car to see whether it makes a difference - do the arrows align the shock absorbing direction?
  4. Thanks - there is definitely no leak from the expansion tank - apparently this car is on its third tank, the latest being the upgraded version - does that make sense? Thanks - this does make sense - Makes me wonder how quickly the P Zero's are wearing away...
  5. Does anyone know where I can buy a service manual for this car? Either genuine or aftermarket? Thanks, Derek
  6. Hi - Does anyone have any exploded diagrams showing how to remove the front and rear bumpers on a 996? It is a 1999 C4 model. Thanks, Derek
  7. Hi - I have just bought a 1999 996 C4 - Even when driven lightly, it has a very mild 'hot engine' smell when I stop. It doesn't really smell like burnt oil (maybe burnt Mobil 1 smells a bit different) - to me it might smell a bit like burnt coolant, but the car does appear to be losing / using any fluids... Any ideas? Thanks, Derek
  8. Hi - I have a problem where the CD stacker skips when the road gets only slightly bumpy. The CD player in the console work perfectly on the roughest of roads. Does anyone: 1. Have any suggestions on how to fix this. 2. Know who the manufacturer of the stacker is so that I can get it looked at? Thanks, Derek
  9. Hi - I recently bought the above car and it came with two remote entry keys. Both work, but only at very short range - ie within one meter (3 feet) of the car. I have replaced the battery in one of them, but it does not appear to make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Derek
  10. I have just bought a '99 C4 - It has 18" wheels fronts are 225/40 rears are 285/30 where sticker under the hood suggests that they should be 265/35. What impact would this have on the rolling diameter / 4WD system? Or are they actually the same rolling diameter? Hope that someone can help me. Derek
