  1. thanks for your help on this, the water never got back to the amp. Theres no cd changer, The water just made it a little about maybe 5 to 6 inches into the compartment on the drivers side just past the corner. it left a bit of a waterstain but nothing more, when I last spoke to the stealership they told me that it sounded like soon I would need to have the cluster replaced because of the CEL aux in/out p code. the unfortunate part is that I dont think I need it, and I've checked all of the possible lose connections, I have gotten under the dash, and into the back of the head unit. unfortunately I found no traces of lose connections. However, Thanks for all your help guys, any further information you guys want to suggest is more than welcome as I'm sure that there are more then just one boxster out there experiencing it.

I have the p code for the aux in/out problem, it was in a previous post i applied a few days/weeks back, when i first joined, I have checked, the only water i could find anywhere in the car was in the front trunk, but its not that big of a leak, more like the hood lifted for a moment in the rain, which, the previous owner sometimes left the hood open for a moment every once in awhile, and the moisture never went away over all this time. Now I also looked back in behind the seats and they were in perfect condition, without any wetness of any kind. Now I have the porsche repair sheet that they repaired, and what im seeing from that is that the top trans died *convert* and that was replaced, also, remotecontrol head/theft unit/indication sticker-f. these are the parts repaired, apparently a few months ago the car locked everything out of it, and that was when the problems began. there was never any wetness inside the car, I called the previous owner and asked about the wetness, they told me that everything had been normal after the repairs, and they became concerned that there was a wire that had been just wrapped after the security system wihtout any acctual repairs, because of the cost from the stealership. By the way what happens if i run it with a higher fuse in the block? Thanks, Bryan

No this head unit has been in this car since we bought it in 2k, and now all the sudden it just recently has started falling apart, we dont treat it bad or anything, so we're all confused in my local family. I stuck a higher rated fuse in at 25A, and that fixed it for now, but I spoke with the last person to take it to Porsche, and they said that about 6 months back there was a problem where the car security system locked them out of the car, and they couldn't start it no matter what. Now, Porsche said that it was a short that they fixed, then all the sudden this problem comes back, I havent recieved any P codes, other then 1123 and 1125, which are lean running codes, and a aux in/out problem for the CEL. This car has been plagued with nothing but electrical problems since we purchased it, and even beyond. There are no 3rd party installs the car is completely stock, except for tires and alignment kit *because of a problem with the original alignment 'tierods' failing, and the original owner, didnt care to have stock back in and wanted aftermarket* no other fuses were blown, so i dont understand it.   4. alright, a trip to the advanced auto down the street, and 3 fuses later, i think there is a short myself. any thoughts? ive been having a problem with the CEL, infact there was a P code about the "aux output/input". Is there any way i could upgrade the fuse to a 10A? or a 20A? or would that just pop a higher fuse too. I'm trying to figure this out without a trip to the stealership cause im broke, and want to fix it cheap. Thanks for any replys

  6. I went to get into my car this morning and low and behold, it doesnt have sound. I have searched and tried all of the things on the forum, but I was wondering, do i need to replace the head unit? the unit is a cdr210, out of a '98 boxster, I want to atleast get the cd back out thats in it, but as far as I have tried, nothing. Does this mean that the head unit itself is dead? I have tried the following things: 1) press the on button 2) press and hold the on button 3) press the on button and tried to hold the 8 and 0 buttons*this is as per another post i saw to eject the cd* 4) disconnected the battery for 20 mins 5) took off the climate controls to 'jiggle the wires' in the back of the unit 6) give up and come online to find an answer. now, obviously, either im retarded or i didnt try enough steps, so please post back as soon as possible, porsches just arent as much fun without the sound, the words of my 86 yr old grandmother. Thanks in advance with any help
  7. We have never been into the cluster, So I don't know what could have caused it to come loose. I did reset the gas cap, and the error never re-occured, so I'm going to keep going until it comes back if it does, Thanks for the reply!
  8. I have searched through the forum's and only found very limited information about this. The Car below is a 1998 Boxster RWD Midmount 2.5 Convertable 5-speed I have this car down here because my mother has my car. Ever since I have started driving the car, a series of thing have started happening. The first happened just last week, where the Ebrake wouldn't come on, I tried to figure out what the problem was thinking it was the plunger sensor on the Ebrake inside the console. I then filled the car up today with "racetrack" brand 93 fuel earlier today, and about halfway to my destination *about 30 more miles till i am at my destination* I have a check engnine light appear. Being the car guy that I am, I pull the car over and goto the nearest autozone to get a check on the ECU. The codes that were pulled were: P1691 Manfacurer Contrl. Auxiliary Inputs Auxiliary Outputs P1123 Manfacurer Contrl. Fuel Air Metering I then spoke with the local Porsche stealership in my home town, and the guy said that the P1123 was and could be the timing, as the car has 95k on it. He then went on to say that the P1691 could be a potential problem with the cluster coming up. I became a bit afraid at the cost that I started getting told by the stealership. So I'm just wondering is it time to just sell the car / trade it, or would it be even remotely feasible as we have already dumped almost 4k into this car in the past 2 months. Does any of this sound like a few major problems. Thanks for replying.
