At our shop we had a Boxter with that issue and it turned out to be the shift selector assembly. It wasn't communicating with the key module. with the key module.

On this forum, no. On the Touareg forum someone suggested the battery was at fault. I know the battery was not healthy because it would go low quickly. After charging it would start the car so I did not suggest replacing it at the time. The customer picked up the car before I got the information about the battery being the probable cause and they have not returned to address the issue, but that is what I'm going to suggest to them.

I'm working on a 2009 Cayenne V-6. When shifting to park, message on dash displays "Move selector lever to position P" and key can't be removed. After cycling ignition, key can then be removed. I've seen posts about this concern but no clear solutions. Any have any information about this?
