That's a great idea. I'll let you know if I'm successful. Thank you. Hi Philly, Thanks for your response. I took the car to a local authorized Becker dealer but they said the PCM is not made by Becker. The CD changer in the front trunk is made by Becker though. The Becker dealer thinks the PCM might be a Bosche or Siemens product. I am back at my local Porsche dealer talking to the service manager. I also called Porsche NA and they want me to call them back if my local dealer is unable to resolve the problem. Thanks for your help. Jon

Hi Loren, Thank you for the quick reply. The code that is not working is the one that the dealer supposedly got from Porsche off the PCM serial number. When that code doesn't work does it really mean that the PCM is broken? I am wondering if PCM is actually OK and someone made data entry error in the Porsche PCM code database. Does anyone know if PCM code can be hard reset by Porsche if I send the unit back to Germany? Jon

Hi, Battery on my 2000 996 went dead and it put PCM in a lock-out mode. Took the car to a local Porsche dealer and they retrieved the codes (PCM and NAV). However, the car is not accepting the PCM code. Everything worked fine until the battery died, but now the dealer is telling me that only option is to replace PCM. The dealer thinks the PCM was replaced under warranty. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the code or what options I have besides spending $3500?
