  1. The coolant temperature warning light on my 2002 Boxster S Tiptronic is flashing. It flashed when I started the car, so the engine was still cold. I checked the coolant level and I was at maximum. The manual says to turn off the car immediately and bring it to a dealer. Is this something that I want to flatbed the car to my local Porsche mechanic or can I drive the car to the shop (about 5 miles away)? Also, any ideas what might be going on?
  2. Hi, The cover to the passenger side sun visor on my car has fallen off. The lights around the mirror stay on all the time. I'm considering disconnecting the lights rather than try and buy a new visor fixture. Does anyone know how to do that? Is it fairly simple and easy? Thanks, Ray 2002 Boxster S Tiptronic
  3. I have a 2002 Boxster S Tiptronic. I just retrofitted my Boxster with cruise control as it didn't come with cruise from the factory. The cruise control works great. The only thing is the cruise control light doesn't come on. After much research and deliberation it appears that the cruise control indicator bulb needs to be replaced. The part # I need is the light bulb for 3B on the picture below.
  4. To my knowledge, every car came with a dash equipped for cruise, regardless of if the car had the option or not. The Porsche parts list does not list a "non cruise" cluster, so yours must have it, and according to the owners manual for your car, it should be in the speedometer section, not the warning lights section (page 84 of the attached: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/Owners_Manual_Boxster_PCNA.pdf). Most likely, your car simply does not have the bulb installed. Thanks for your reply. In the Owner's Manual that came with my car it says the Boxster (2.5L engine) has the warning light on the speedometer. My car is the Boxster S (3.2L) and the manual indicates the Cruise Control Indicator Light is on the 'warning lights section'. You are partially correct, this is the "official" image of the dash that is in your car: There are two cruise indicators possible, 3A and 3B. 3A is for the base car (which is a 2.7L, not a 2.5L which was discontinued a couple years earlier), 3B is for the 3.2L S car. In any case, again, the parts listing does not show anything about "with cruise" or "without cruise" part number option; so I would still look for either a missing or non functional blub. Awesome photo. My car is 3B. Is there a possibility that the instrument cluster/warning lights & DME didn't get activated for cruise control by my mechanic?

  6. I have a 2002 Boxster S Tiptronic (US model) that I added a Cruise Control retrofit. I had my local Porsche mechanic follow the technical article procedure that's posted in Pelican Parts. The actual cruise control works great now. :) The only thing that I'm missing is the Cruise Control Indicator Light doesn't light up when I engage the cruise control. The Indicator Light for the cruise control for the Boxster S is normally located on the Warning Lights/Indicator Lights strip (under the Gauge Cluster), and its positioned on the far right (to the right of the Convertible Top Indicator Light). Is there any thing that still needs to be done to activate this light? Or is it possible that my car didn't come OEM with cruise control that this light isn't even on my car. Thanks in advance for the help.
  7. I looked everywhere for an IMS Guardian....no one had any. But, I found a post in another forum from Jake Raby saying that Wrightune in the UK had some left. I ordered one on their website http://www.wrightune.co.uk/imsguardian.html I just installed it this past week. It works like a charm. Now I finally have peace of mind. The only thing is I wish the buzzer was louder. Richard from Wrightune was super helpful and prompt in answering my emails and questions.
  8. Hi everyone, Great thread. I'm new to this forum. Just got a 2002 Boxster S Tiptronic. I love it. I'd like to do the Cruise Control retrofit. My indy mechanic can add the CC stalk and do the wiring but he doesn't have the tool to do the coding and activation. Is there anyone in Southern California that could activate the Cruise Control? Thanks
