  1. Thank you for the reply. I am not going to drive it too much cause i dont like the idea of relying on the door lock, if that goes out it would be bad. I may look into how much to get a new key, I just know it will be a dumb price tag from a dealer.
  2. Where can you get the correct new design cases? My key only has One button. It should still work right?
  3. I took the circuit board out and tested the switch. It has continuity when the button is pushed. and none when it is not pushed. The LED does work in the Key FOB. I didnt think the internal switch was bad but I am trying to check all I can. I have replaced the battery. I also tried the reverse polarity battery installation. Neither of these things helped. So is t fine to just manually use the key and the door to lock and unlock the doors? Does this also enable the alarm? It seems like it does cause the light on the dash blinks.
  4. Okay, so Sunday I went to the store, a couple of hours later the key FOB would not lock of unlock the car... I read some about this today and nothing has worked. I replaced the battery and tried the below sequence i read worked on 997's. I also tried putting key in the door locking the door manually, leaving the key in the door then trying the key FOB to unlock with no results. I can put the key in the driver door and lock the doors and then unlock them with the key in the door manually with no issues. No alarm, no honk..... I am unsure what to try at this point. I only have one key, I hope I don't have to get another from a dealer. -Lock the doors from the outside by using the key in the door lock. -Unlock the drivers side door using the key in the door lock. -Within about 10 seconds or so, open the door and insert the key into the ignition. DON'T START THE CAR!! -With the key still in the ignition, push the unlock button on the key.
  5. Update - #1. I found when I removed my center console to paint it upon re-installation the wires for the parking break light were running over where the parking break lever stop. So it eventually was shorting out the wire and making the light come on when any pressure was put on the lever downward. I moved the wires and made sure they were isolated and taped. Guess what.... No more light when the lever is down. LOL... So be careful that doesn't happen to you. #2. It was the reverse switch on the trans. Easy fix. #3. I found it was a little low and the cap was not on correctly. Added fluid and made sure the cap is all the way on and no more problem. #4. I have not had time to really check into this one.
  6. #2. I replaced the part # 996.606.103.01. This fixed the issue and was super easy to do. Reverse lights work. Whoo hoo.
  7. First let me start by thanking everyone for their responses on these problems. Everyone's input is very helpful to me at this point. I am getting familiar with this car. 1. i need to remove the center console as you stated. I have not had time yet, but will soon. 2. I have ordered the part for this as I think this is what it is. 3. Does anyone know the part number for the coolant level sensor??? This has been still happening intermittently. 4. I have read there are several microswitches in the door. Is there a certain one to look for? I also read the cable needs to be checked that it may need to be tightened...
  8. I taped up the plate and tucked it away. All was good. Horn did stop beeping. Thanks again.
  9. Man thank you you are a life saver. I will tape it up so it will not ground out. My alarm was beeping... I thought that was the culprit. I am reconnecting everything now. I will update with results.
  10. Can someone please tell me what this the small plate with the wire on it is? It comes off of the wires going to the intermittent wiper speed plug on the left of the radio. It looks like it is supposed to ground to something maybe. At the moment it is not going to anything, just sitting in there.
  11. Unfortunately no. I got caught up installing a new spoiler last week. I do intend on getting to the maint this week due to on the weekend I will be doing AutoX. Will update asap.
  12. Racing raven bay store. They have a lot of spoilers. I like the look of this one. Not to mention it was only $77.00, primed and unpainted. I can understand it sagging after a while. It only has one screw in it. Seems like it needs another in the front. http://stores.ebay.com/racing-raven-store/PORSCHE-/_i.html?_fsub=8446464&_sid=148440089&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
  13. So I bought a small spoiler for my 2000 -996. The paint I got from Sherman Williams Auto-paint was not impressive. End result is okay. I really like the new look. here are a couple of pics. I also painted my bumperettes.
  14. I will be sure to update the post. I should be getting to this wed or thurs.
  15. 2000 Carrera 996 manual trans The reverse lights may be that relay. I will be checking it out next week. Thank you for the info. The driver window does it from inside and outside. I will have to look at the regulator.
  16. I have them ordered. I also ordered new tubes w/ o-rings. I am pretty sure I have all kinds of ratchet knuckles that should work. Thank you for the heads up.
  17. Yes I saw that. I will be ordering from them today. I am finding out it is better to stick with the well know distributors. I am a newbe, trying to learn all I can about my new to me car.
  18. Got it, I kinda figured. OEM was best to stick with. I am going to change my spark plugs out soon and was looking around and stumbled upon those. Thanks for the feedback.
  19. Has anyone used the coil packs on the link? They look to be good quality but anything could look good on the net. Has anyone used these before? If so how was the quality??? 20. Yep I ordered the incorrect ones. I have ordered the correct ones now. Thank you for the responses with the correct part number
  21. Can someone tell me if the Bosch 7969 spark plug will be okay on my 2000 911 3.4 engine. This is what I ordered, the part number doesn't match up with the Bosch FGR5KQEO which is what I was trying to get. That pulls up as a Bosch 7413 after I did some research. Should I order new ones or will the 7969's work???
  22. 1st oddity Put your hand on the parking brake and put any amount of pressure (down) with it disengaged and... Parking break light comes on. If you actually pull up (engage) the park brake NO LIGHT.. What is going on lol???? 2nd When you reverse the car, NO reverse lights.... I have not looked into this at all yet. I just found out the don't come on. 3rd Was driving home and the water temp was at 180 but the light on the gauge was Blinking... I quickly stopped and turned off the car, found no problems. I turned on thecar back on, temp reading was the same and the light was not Blinking any longer. Hmmmmm... 4th When opening the Driver car door the window does not come down its like it is stuck for a second then it comes down. Are there any things to check to fix this?
  23. Awesome feedback, looks like I will be getting this. Thank you for the info. Are the ones in the link above the preferred or are there other options?
  24. Huh I was wondering if the spin on oil filters were worth it or not... Has anyone had success with these?
