  1. I'm hoping someone might reply to this old message. I'm a new member and working on a 99 Boxster which has had ignition problems. First fix would be to change electric switch component which I did, fixed the sticking of key and not starting. pretty easy fix. But now the dash lights and radio don't go off when you pull the key. Noticed the key does not "click" or "thunk" when you remove it like it used to, and also means stering wheel lock not engaging? I am guessing the electric key switch pin in the middle is not being depressed to turn off accessory mode. There's a small pin on the switch, and a pin that would extend out of the key lock, but it's not coming out apparently. Any ideas, am I missing something, steering wheel lock had been ok, stuck once or twice but pretty normal operation. Seems like it's stuck now in unlocked mode and won't depress the pin or engage the lock for wheel. Any help appreciated!! thanks... jbman45 UPDATE! Thought about it and rapped on the steering lock mechanism behind the dash and viola..snap and locked...and of course all radio/dash went out. So problem is as thought steering lock is not working, so not triggering the shut off in the ignition switch. Now question becomes can you lubricate the steering lock mechanism, take it apart and grease?? or is it a replacement issue. This is clearly the problem but really don't want to take apart or buy a new one so maybe someone has ideas on how to free it up and grease or oil it. thanks.
