  1. 2004 Porsche Cayenne S 8 cylinder 140k miles. Fair amount of oil in my breather hose running from AOS to throttle body (I believe it's called the crankshaft breather hose ) Could this be causing my #8 cylinder to misfire and foul plug ? Is my AOS bad or is something else causing this oil in the hose ?
  2. I have icarsoft 960 reader... I get a lot of voltage related codes such as the ones I listed. The oil in the filler cap and as well as the filler cap is fine. This picture is driver's side plugs I.pulled out and then replaced. The right side of picture is the plug closest to front nose of engine. Will send passenger side next
  3. Wizard Coils look perfect ,no cracks or anything Plugs were pretty brown on ends, cylinders 1 and 8 were wet (smelled like gas)with large carbon deposits Cylinder 6 had carbon on plug also
  4. Hello all, My battery is fluctuating from 13-13.8 while idling ... If I put a load on it (radio, Window defrost, fans,hi beams) it fluctuates 12.9-13.1 It's a brand new battery and I been getting a lot of electrical related codes (low voltage on fuel pump, pedal voltage, PSM failure has been happening a lot now, several other voltage related codes) Is this a bad alternator ? I have been having coolant leaking from overflow tank past few days when sitting idling. Not sure if this has anything to do with alternator since it's a liquid cooled alternator (from.what I'm.readint it's liquid cooled) Anything else that could be causing the voltage drop.. I just bought the car 10 days ago.. Battery was new when I got it Engine starts right up. A few days ago I checked voltage and it was 12.6 with car off and 13.7 running... Seems like something going on now... I also did have a blown fuse (#14) for fuel pump.... Any help will be much appreciated Pete
  5. All voltage seems to be stable. I unplugged battery for an hour . Reconneced it. Cayenne was running amazing for about 40 miles then the transmission indicator on dashboard went to a solidd D ......No d1,d2,etc... Turn car off and back on ,went back to normal drive mode. But engine is sluggish now.. Strong exhaust smell, fair amount of smoke while.at a stop.... Seems to be running rich.....Did have a cat converter code but cleared it.... New plugs and coils....New belt, new oil and filter in past week.... Could it be the ECU bad ? Or air leak ? Frustrating because for an hour it ran beautiful
  6. Is there a way to check voltage on battery without taking driver's seat apart ? Are there lugs I can check ?
  7. I'm.running 13.7 while engine on and at idle and 12.8 off
  8. What is the optimal voltage range .It seems the cayenne is very voltage sensitive.
  9. I am having a strong smell of gas in my 2004 Cayenne S and outside drivers door. I am getting a fuel pump circuit code. And the fuse was blown . Changed the fuse and fuse is holding but still getting strong smell when I completely full tank. I recently changed all coils and plugs as it was misfiring and throwing several codes. Cleared all codes. Now getting the fuel pump circuit code, catalytic converter code, and the camshaft sensor position code... Could these codes all be related to a failing or weak fuel pump. I don't have any problems starting engine and it seems to idle fine and run fine even under load. Pete
  10. So is my problem sounding more like an electrical problem ??? I wouldn't the rough idle and stalling would be related
  11. Are u thinking these could be causing the issues I'm having now ? I was thinking possibly o2 sensor or camshaft sensor ... Possibly fuel pump issue, but I am new with owning a cayenne
  12. Am I checking to.see if blown ?? What could be causing the real rough idle and stalling ? It was running a little rough before I changed the plugs and coils...now it's much worse...I would think new coils and plugs would have improved the situation
  13. I have not disconnected battery. Will that help with the PSM lights Also do you have any input on the rough idle and stalling now that I changed coils and plugs.
  14. Just finished plugs and coils... Started the.throttle adaption and after about a minute or so I get a warning saying "switch off- load failure" I started the cayenne and it's idling very rough and stalls after about 45 seconds Now I have a PSM failure light and warning coming up.. Any idea what's happening now ?
  15. Thank you for the help and advice... It is greatly appreciated. I'm sure this won't be my last time asking for help... Pete
  16. Can I reset the CEL or Doni need to go to shop for that ? Pete
  17. I have the following codes onn2004 Cayenne S v8.. P0230 P0021 P0421 P0300 P0308 P0301 I'm going to change coils and plugs ... Any thoughts on if this will correct all codes ? How do I reset everything when plugs and coils are done
  18. My local Indy shop has AUTEL diagnostics computer and does some occasional work on Porsche. Do you think that software would read the Porsche codes or am I stuck going to a Porsche dealer Pete
  19. I read about some.coating on the cylinders/pistons that goeas bad... Fingers crossed that I don't need a new engine.
  20. Any thoughts non what could be the issue here ?? The sputtering and sluggishness and triggered the 3 codes.... Could it be something major Pete
  21. Can a typical foreign car repair shop read it or do I have to go to Porsche dealer.. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade (equipment) So I could do the repairs myself...I just need the diagnostics done. Pete
  22. Loren thank you for that answer. I had assumed it was 4.. My CEL came on yesterday.. stopped at AutoZone for a quick test and it came up as : 1.)upstream o2 sensor 2.) Camshaft position sensor timing 3.) Fuel pump voltage I just bought the cayenne yesterday after about 20 miles the CEL came on... The car has been sitting for a while (6 months) gas was pretty low and I filled it. After about 70 miles the car started running rough and sluggish (sort of sputtering), similar to when engine is misfiring... I notice a fair amount of black build up on tail pipes (not oily at all). I'm assuming it's the o2 sensor causing these issues. I plan to replace plugs and coils asap also Hi all, I'm new on this site so forgive me if I post improperly. How many oxygen sensors are there in my 2004 Cayenne S v8 ? Pete
