Jumper should work without battery, although I have no experience. Look behind your tow hook for the wire, as many relocated it there for ease of access.

have just purchased a replacement amp for my 2003 boxster S 6spd, 3.2. all of the codes on the back of the replacement are very similar, as close as I could find, but when I hooked it up, even the cooling fan does not come on, never mind the sound from the radio head. The wiring harness that was attached to the replacement has an extra blue/blue-brown wire attached.
the largest number on the old amp is: 996.645.333.03
and the replacement is 996.645.333.05
both are amp 4166 MOST 9x6 prod listed
any ideas as to why this is not solving the prob. the dealer said the radio is ok.

Sorry, I’m no help. But, when I purchased my ‘03 Base, the radio/CD player was not working. I sent the head unit and amp off to Becker in NJ for bench testing. The head was OK, but the amp no good. They rebuilt it for about $300, if I recall. These MOST systems are tricky, I guess.

I have a 2000 base Boxster. I went to close the top and I heard a loud pop and now my top will not open. The clam shell stays down. Any direction would be helpful. Thank you.

You likely need to replace one of your push rod ball joints. They wear out with age, or broke due to some sort of tension. Replace with plastic - not metal - part. Plastic is designed to break if undue tension is applied thereby saving you from destroying the top or motor. There is a seller from MN, l believe, on eBay. Get two and you’ll have a spare.
