  1. Having an issue with the heater in my 2000 Boxster S. It fogs up the windows when the heater is on. If I turn the AC button on the fog stops but the air temperature is no longer hot or warm even. The moisture coming out seems to have an odd smell to it. It's either old nasty water or perhaps antifreeze. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. So sorry to keep anyone waiting on a diagnosis of this if you were interested. I took it to a Porsche repair shop and they confirmed that it was my coil packs. They were going to charge me over $2000 to fix it! That also included $1000 for changing the spark plug tubes which they said were leaking externally. What a joke! It's easier to replace the tubes than it is to replace the spark plugs; and it's an $8 part. UNBELIEVABLE! Anyway, I replaced the offending coils for a grand total of $80. Car runs great now. Thank you all for your opinions and advice.
  3. Thanks to all that helped on this. I've had to fall on my sword and take it to a shop. I'll post the diagnosis as soon as I have it.
  4. It absolutely applies. It had been raining. I guess that makes sense why it wasn't there the next time I got the codes.
  5. Correct, I do not have a bad idle. I did have an error code of P1118 but it went away. I consistently have P0300 and it showed P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and P0306 the last time I checked.
  6. My MAF is from bosch and has the part number recommended by Porsche of Nashville(ending in 125.01). My engine air filter has been cleaned within the last month. As far as my fuel pressure filter goes, I have no idea. The car has 184K miles on it and I have never replaced a fuel pressure filter. I'll look into that and get back. I don't think I have an air leak. What are some symptoms of that? My AOS went out a couple of years ago and that caused an air leak and unstable idle. I replaced it and fixed the problem. I started having unstable idle again once my MAF started going out. Now that the new one is in the idle is rock solid. It's just running terribly otherwise.
  7. Thanks JFP. I'll post my progress.
  8. Very interesting. I'll give that a shot. Guess I'll be going down to get an OHM meter. Any pointers on how to test? I've never done it before.
  9. Is it common that they would all go out at once?
  10. I have 2000 Porsche Boxster S that is misfiring on nearly every cylinder. It started with symptoms of a bad MAF; typical sluggish on take off, CEL light with the corresponding code. I would disconnect the wiring from the MAF and it would clear up. I cleaned the MAF and plenum and it ran perfectly for about a day. Ordered a new MAF. By before I had a chance to put the new one in I got a flashing CEL and a massive loss of power. Put in the new MAF. It cleared up some idle issues but the loss of power and flashing CEL is still there. The codes show random misfire and misfire on 2,3,4,5, and 6. I've also changed the spark plugs but it has had no effect.
  11. Mine is 98 0YU 66 2192 I installed the 125 as recommended by Porsche of Nashville. I spoke with a Porsche repair shop earlier this morning. He doesn't believe it's limp mode. Whatever the reason I've got cylinders 2&3 misfiring. It doesn't correct it when I disconnect the wiring from the MAF. The codes I am getting are: P1118 P0300 P0303 P0302 I switched the spark plug coils in 2 and 3 with 5 and 6 to see if the problem moved with it. Just got back from getting the codes. Now it is giving me: P0302 P0303 P0304 P0305 P0306 ...and no longer getting P1118
  12. Thanks for your response. I replaced the MAF with the one ending in 125.01. The guy at Porsche of Nashville said it would not need to be programmed. Just plug in and go.
  13. I'm new to Renntech and hopefully I follow the decorum correctly. If not I apologize. Anyway, I have a 2000 Boxster S. It has been sputtering on take off and gave codes that suggested the MAF was out. I disconnected the MAF wiring and it greatly improved the performance. I ordered a MAF and by the time it came in I believe my car went into Limp Mode. I installed the new MAF and cleaned the throttle body but it still acts like it is in limp mode. I also changed the spark plugs hoping this would help. The only code I'm getting off it now is P1118 and also the codes for missing on cylinders 2 and 3. Is it possible that is simply still in limp mode? If so is there a way for me to reset it?
