  1. Thanks for the quick response. This is a 2002. I thought that the holding bracket should be removable too. For some reason on the car the bracket is part of the transaxle casting and not removable. See pic. Very weird. That is part of my problem can not remove it for replacement so looking at some fix in the casted area. It does beg the question if this is the original Transmission. That's for another time. Thanks
  2. The Porsche is a 996.2 with Tiptronic transmission. I am in need of some expert advice regarding a trans oil cooler leak I have. It appears that the Trans oil cooler mounting bracket has a slight leak. According to the shop technician it is like a freeze plug on the mounting casting. They tried a crap repair by putting JB weld all over the area (see picture). Well that failed. It is leaking around it. So the challenge to the group is, what is your suggestion for a repair method. One strange thing is the oil cooler mounting is a solid part of the differential and cannot be replaced. All good ideas are welcomed.
  3. Thanks again for the information and help. It's nice to have a project car; never boring.
  4. thanks for the quick reply. Yes the ac is cold. It was just a minor bead of fluid by the clamp. Do I have to drain the system to replace the o ring. I am not sure if this is part of the charged system.
  5. I have a small leak of some fluid coming from a line and clamp area under my 996. I am not sure what the fluid is and if this is a clamp with an o ring inside. Can someone please help me by explaining the function of this. I have attached a picture that I have circled in red the area. thanks
