  1. Hi. I just got my new Durametric cable (pro version). My main goal was to enable DRL, and, of course, I could play with some other coding later. Diagnostic was not so important, for I have an Icarsoft Por II scantool. I didn´t wanted to use the light switch hack to enable DRL, just because it enables both front position and rear position lights, and modern DRL by definition is only front position lights (I know, too much of an investment and hassle for a so small need). It´s just that I´m a little obsessed with doing things the best possible way (My engine has been heavily modified and meets "S" performance, which makes me happier than just buying an "S"). It was very easy to enable DRLs (The cable does it work). The problem is that it seemed that DRL in early porsches (mine is a 2008 year 987.1), meant both front and rear position lights, PLUS low beams... There is not (AFAIK) a setting (coding) to select what you want to be lit. So ,for now, I´m some $ 800 poorer, but again at the starting point. Any hints? Anyone knows how to code only front position lights as DRL? It´s only that I just don´t want to run all day long with all the lights on. Thanks. David.-
  2. Hi. Trying to decide which way to go with my reflash. My preferred method is reading the ECU, making or buying a custom flash, and write it back. My tool is a Kess V2, but it can not read the ECU (can write to it thou), letting me in the PITA land trying to read it (taking the ECU out and opening, Etc.). Also, I was reading about the Designtek and "Openflash tablet" options, both of which save me from the reading hassle, but found just a few posts reviewing Openflash, and NOTHING about Designtek reprogramming. Any experience? Thanks.
  3. THANK YOU!!. I got them, and will start my homework. Kinda PITA getting a base map of my Bosch Motronic 7.8.1. Dave.
  4. Thanks a lot!. However, I guess this is a DLC connector pinout. I am looking for an ECU pinout, hopefully with a picture of the ECU with pinout. Sadly, my programming tool is only able to read 987´s ECU directly from the ECU, and not through the DLC connector. This very weird by the way, ´cause Kess V2 is one of the most developed programming tools out there, and quite a few other boxes claim to read the ecu from the DLC (Unless they are cheating us, and they use "virtual reading" technique), which could explain why the others force you to connect to the web... Have a nice christmas!!!
  5. Hi. I´m new to Porsche, but have some experience with BMW´s and reprogramming ECUs. However, I have never get into K-line connection (always used OBD2 read/write), and don´t want to screw my new (new for me...) Porsche. I´m trying to reach 300 HP with it (I have done may mods already, but without a custom repro will never get even close to this goal). I have bought a Kess V2 interface, but my ECU is 7.8.1, which needs K-line reading. Has anyone ever read this ecu (I think it´s the same of some 996/997), with K-line ? If so, anyone can help with pinouts and K-line connections? Thanks in advance. Dave.-
