  1. Can anyone give me some tips re getting the holder off the expansion tank. I can just about get my finger tips to the plastic clip underneath the filter. I push it up towards the filter but it doesn't seem to want to come free.

Is there an easier way ?

  2. Hello all, i would like to do change my stock turbos ( k16 ) with the K24 ones and i was wondering if i need to change the headers, exhaust or the intercoolers ?

    thanks !

The headers wont fit so you need the k24 ones.

If your fitting new turbos I would change the exhaust anyway but you dont need to.

The intercoolers for the k24's are larger.

Would go after market with the exhaust and headers. The GT2 intercoolers will be fine.

  3. I used to have a Subaru Impreza and when you changed the oil you would disconnect the crank sensor. You could then crank the engine over, get the oil pressure back without the engine firing up. Once the oil light went out you could reconnect the sensor.

So, looking through the various articles about oil changes I haven't seen the Porsche version of this. When I last changed my oil on my 996tt, when I first started it I'm sure the engine had a different tone till the oil pressure was up. This was only for about 3 seconds.

Can you crank the engine over without firing up, ie take a fuse out ?

Do you need to do this on a 996TT ?

  4. Done some datalogging and found this. Appears the 02 sensor on bank 2 has no resistance? Does this confirm its faulty?

    O2 sensor resistance behind cat bank 1 = 0.99 to 1.00

    O2 sensor voltage behind cat bank 1 = 0.88 to 0.89

    O2 sensor resistance behind cat bank 2 = 0 to 0

    O2 sensor voltage behind cat bank 2 = 0.69 to 0.74

  5. Haven't checked the codes in my car for a while but checked it with my Durametric today and found this :

    P0160

    Porsche fault code 20 - O2 sensor behind CAT.conv.

    Bank 2

Car has been running fine and still does but has had a little occasional misfire on idle when warm??????

Could this of been the cause?????

Whats best course of action ? Replace sensor ?

    Any tests?

    Just to add

The occasional misfire was on cylinder 5 which I believe is bank 2.

Plug and coil was changed but made no difference

  6. I don't understand... if the spoiler always works with the manual switch then the hydraulics of the spoiler are fine and don't need anything.

Chances are you have an intermittent microswitch on the spoiler.

    Loren

Mine's got stuck again. As soon as I got home I tried using the manual switch and this worked.

Where do these microswitches live and what is the part number

    Cheers

    Andy
