  1. Just got new guards red seatbelts for my '05 997S coupe. The new front seatbelt has a rest for the buckle (button on the belt) only 13" from the floor where as the old belt and the new one on the right are 23" off the floor. I had issues previously where the buckle caused a rattle against the passenger seat so I am wondering if Porsche may have changed this? or did I just get the wrong part number for the left belt. 997.803.034.09.N13 is the part is question. Thanks for any help.
  2. Does your new unit have the SOS buttom. If so then you got an updated unit. Has no one else tried to upgrade the PCM from 2.1 to 2.1A or 2.1B to get an updated DVD nav, disk to work?
  3. Does anyone else have a early build 2005 997 with PCM 2.1 (not 2.1A or 2.1B) that they want to upgrade to get a newer DVD for the Nav and also get Sat. radio retrofit :renntech: . I am having trouble getting info and direction. Do you think Porsche may come out with an all inclusive solution (ie. change out the PCM module) for 2008 which we could swap in? :renntech:
  4. Do you mean to pry the pedal straight up or outward. Still nervous I'm going to bust it. I want to do the same replacement, it bugs me that the dead pedal does not match the others. It must now look better even though it's mostly plastic.
  5. Hi Larry, Sorry I could not respond to your pm earlier but I was away and then I realized I did not know how. Hope you are happy with the mod. Looks like you did a nice job. I am interested in your ipod set up but I need to get my pcm updated to 2.1 b first, and then I'd like to get sat radio and ipod. Thanks for your pics. Here are pics of my adaptation of kkfor3's switch & Dension i-pod install http://www.flickr.com/photos/33889996@N00/?saved=1
  6. May I ask you which version of PCM you have now on your '05 997? When you say earlier that a update may give you better interface do you mean upgrading the PCM? By CD, do you mean CD changer? If so, since it cannot be used at the same time as the Gateway 500, why not try to try the install of "2. NAV", but remove the CD changer from the MOST ring? Its worth a try because in this configuration, it sounds like your CD changer appears first in the ring and therefore is used. Removing it will make the the Gateway 500 appear as the first CD changer in the ring. Yes, you are right, and I have just manged to prove this. The MOST ring can have a max number of devices specified (as with my model/spec), so the easy way round is to remove CD from MOST ring and wire GW directly into the circuit - no conflict and 100% performance from all devices. Apparrently NAV TV kit comes with plug that means you have to disconnect CD drive, where as GW kit and instructions allow for (and recommend) piggy back operation that doesn't always work! Thanks to OPC Swindon for advice with this.
  7. If you want to duplicate this make sure you get a fairly flat switch so it does not interfere with closing of the door. The cig snuff out thing is just a metal plate and it pops out if you lift it straight up. The switch I got was a bit bulky in the back so I cut off some of the excess on the sides behind the front face plate so it would sit down in the area and clear the cover. I was able to cover the exposed end with black vinyl wall edging I had left over from refinishing vinyl flooring at the office(this stuff is as easy to cut to shape as paper). Thanks, that looks great!!!
  8. I installed the switch in the ashtray as well. I am more than pleased. Most of the time I leave the switch in the "off" position which means that the PSE is on all the time even on start up and stays on no matter the speed. In the "on" position the PSE is back to the factory mode which is then controlled by the sport button on the dash, but cuts out even if you have it on between 30 and 50 mph. My PSE was put on after delivery of my car so the wires to the solenoid were easy to find behind the back seat (there was a good post on how to do this previously). There are a huge number of wires in this area and if the dealer had not found the wires to install the PSE I'm not sure I would have been able to pick them out of the harnesses. I think I can post pics of my switch if you want, I replaced the round cig. snuff-out thing at the front of the ashtray with the switch and it looks factory to me, and disappears if you close the ashtray door. You can just disconnect the orange plug in the engine compartment to have the PSE on permanently , or you can interrupt the 12 volt power going to the solenoid by installing a switch . I installed a two pos.toggle switch in the ashtray . Pos. 1 : PSE functions per factory Pos. 2 : PSE is always on
  9. I just inquired about updating my standard production pcm 2.1 on my '05 997S at my dealer and they said it could not be done unless I wanted to change out hardware(ie. very expensive). From reading related posts it sounds like two separate cd upgrades to 2.1a and then 2.1b, do you think my dealer is actually trying to avoid doing the update or are they that out of the loop. I am expecting to be now told that I have to buy the new nav dvd from them to get it done. Ultimately I want to get satellite radio and so need the pcm 2.1b. Has anyone else already done this, since most posts on sat. radio seem to start with a later production 997. Thanks for any input. :help:
