  1. Loren et al, You may have seen my post about my Targa roof not closing on the driver's side. A bit of sleuthing on the Web has me anticipating a major $ repair. Was wondering if any of you with good dealer mechanic/service or PCA relationships could ask around about which dealer has strong Targa experience. I'm willing to bring it somewhere to avoid having my car be a learning tool. Thanks in advance, Piccia in Nashville
  2. Folks, Duplicating here and on Rennlist. Researched a ton this weekend and realized I need to replace my ignition switch ('02 996 Targa). However, I now also fear an IMS failure is upon me. Had a 'spirited' drive this weekend while running late to an appointment. Restarting the car I had a good blue smoke bellow (has happened before after spirited driving - but always went away immediately). It was then I noticed my headlights and wipers not working (ignition switch). Got home ok and then figured out with manipulating the key in ignition I could get the lights, etc. working. However, when I started the car Sun. to try to figure out a Targa roof alignment problem (earlier post) I heard 'crunching' mechanical sound. It went away after 2-3 seconds and car drives normally. This morning, same thing. Collective wisdom of this board says??? Could it be the lack of return 'spring' from the ignition switch (like cranking a car that's already running)? Or am I hosed with IMS? Thanks in advance, Piccia
  3. I just ordered seat covers from Wet Okole. They're asking which seat style I have and I can't figure it out. Two are the likely candidates, but I'm not sure if these are P-car number designations or Okole's. I'm thinking they're Okole's: 9917 Standard Highback for 911/996/Boxster 1999-2003 0371 Sport Highback for 911/996 2002- I can't tell the difference. The two above look exactly the same (see attachment) but/and the model years overlap, so I'm confused. Both are power seats (my '02 Targa has dual full power with supple leather and driver's memory). Was there some kind of base/std seat changeover in the '02 '03 timeframe? Can anyone help? BTW - The image for the 'Sport Highback" above is not the contoured sport seats (wish I had them...), those are listed as: 0095 Sport Highback 993/996/Boxster 2000- Thanks, Piccia '02 Targa New_Porsche.pdf
  4. Hello, new owner of an '02 Targa. PPI checked out and seems to run perfectly, except at start up. Cranks fine, engine fires but settles into a stumbling idle a under 600rpm. Light stab of gas pedal usually stalls the engine, then on restart it zooms up to 1500, settles back down at 700 and operates fine. No stalling yet during regular driving. I did some archive searches but either I'm not too good at it or didn't pull any good explanatory posts. One mentioned the idle control valve. What do you all think? Thanks, Piccia :( '02 Targa, Seal Gray/Black
