  1. Although it seems I'm talking to myself here, i found that i measured the wrong ring in the post above. the .018 gap ring that I posted was for the top ring. I measured the intermediate ring and found its gap to be .116.... So with a size of the dowel in the piston of .097, - the intermediate ring would have a gap of around .018 to .019. The question is that the 45* bevel will need to be ground off.... My question is do i grind off both sides of the bevel or what.. any ideas?
  2. I bought a 96mm tapered piston compressor, so maybe that will help this
  3. Yes, the intermediate ring keeps getting stuck it seems when trying to insert into cylinder. Using the blue tube type ring compressor. I believe I got the rings from autoatlanta. They do say 02-05 carrera on them. Jake raby also said i needed the ones with the 45* bevel on the intermediate ring. Strange how the motor didnt have rings with a 45* bevel in them when I took it apart
  4. The new 45* ring has a .032 gap and the old n on beveled ring is .018
  5. I'm trying to put my engine back together now. At the piston stage. My pistons are the ones with the anti-spin piece in line with the wrist pin. The piston rings that came out of the engine didnt have the 45* bevel at the ends of the intermediate ring. The new rings do. This ring is giving me problems with going into the cylinder. Not sure if I need a different (bigger) gap. Anyone have any experience to share with me? First picture is of the old rings. Second is new rings.
