  1. 2000 Boxster S, with 60,000 miles. Stock, except for EVO intake, PSS9s, and track tires. About 25 DE track events, all in the Texas heat, during the last 3 years. Rarely driven on the street over the past 2 years. Never had any engine problems. Never had a leaky RMS. Drove the car as fast as I could on every lap. Redline before every shift (never did a clutch yet either). Last event, while coming off the fastest sweeper and on to the fastest straight at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX, I noticed the car was slightly low on power. Before I could even think about it, I heard a "clunk" and the engine lost all power. After cooling down for an hour or so, the engine started, but with a nasty rod knocking kind of sound. Not sure what caused the failure, but I must say I never babied the car (why own one if you're going to drive it like the family grocery-getter?). Now I'm looking for a great deal on a Porsche crate motor. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to find a deal? Rick Near Dallas, TX
