  1. I recently cleaned my MAF sensor and WOW. I drive '99 Boxster with 70K miles. The difference is huge, more power and faster respone at lower rpm. Car drive absolutly smooth, like new, hehe. The only different thing was a torx I had to unscrew MAF. It was T20H. I wonder if P change it in newer models.
  2. I bought it 5 months ago and I made 10k miles with my Boxi. Tires - there are about 30% life left and the pressure looks ok. Front wheels need balancing. Last couple days I noticed that. Since I've got 70k miles I thought it is time to change tie rods, bushings, bearings and shocks.
  3. I was wondering how long suspension live, I mean overall. After what mileage users usually changing shocks, springs, tire rods, bushings, bearings and etc.? I know it depends on how you drive it and where!!! I'm driving '99 Boxster with almost 70K miles and I feel that my suspension is "dying". I feel a little bit of play on my steering wheel, every small single hole in the road feels like a canyon. My question is what part of suspension did you change at what mileage?
  4. I'm not sure if I understand you completely but the pattern should look like that. I just bought one litronic light. Honestly I belive it just looks better. There is no huge difference in light output. Litronics are better, looks better but they are way overpriced. I'm going for them since I've got one already. I will post pics with one halogen xenon and one litronic.
  5. I had same problem with 0410 and 1411 codes. CEL was always popping up when engine was cold. I took it to my mechanic. Everything was in working order, except air valve. Problem was that over my 67K miles deposit build up very bad. the only solution was to take it apart and clean it, and that thing could be expensive(labor). He recommend to use BG44 cleaning kit, it's a three stage cleaning kit for intake and fuel system. I believe p-dealer can do it for 160$. Since than I also started using Chevron Techron fuel additive for every single tank. It's been over month without CEL. I hope it will be more than that. Here the link if you are interested BG 44K
  6. Yes you are right but only in 50%. There are a lot of different types of bulbs (D1S, D2S, D2R, not sure but I heard about D4S), but making long story short here's how it looks like. There are two types of headlights: first ones are halogens (Mercedes, Porsche non litronic, Hondas, Acuras and etc.), the second types are projectors (Porsche Litronics, Bimmers and etc.) Both types has xenon lights. The first type uses D2R bulbs like that: The second type uses D2S bulbs like that: The difference is that one bulb has been covered partially. There is also another factor: some of the halogen headlights doesn't have bulb cover inside the light: Honestly in every conversion I've made, I'm using D2S bulbs and I'm lowering settings for both lights a little bit. Later today I will post pics of my set up focused on the wall. At least I try.
  7. I bought them from ebay for 200$. Two ballasts and two bulbs. There are hundreds of offers, just search for one that suits you best. You might find even cheaper. Usually average price for is set around 160$.
  8. Recently I did my coversion also, however I picked up nissan 350z ballast and bulbs. Why? I figure out that these ballasts are the easiest to mount. One headlight took me 30 min!!!. No cut cables, no glue and what's more important ballast and back cover are sealed really good, since there is a big rubber o-ring. I thought I will share my set up with everybody so others might to the same thing. The Final effect.
  9. How did you make a sign "PORSCHE"? Did you buy any decals? or cut the letters in a piece of paper and paint it over caliper?? Hmmm. I am ready to paint mine calipers to red and I would like a white letters saying PORSCHE!! Any ideas?
  10. I'v got two question and I hope somebody will help me. 1. Will throttle from 996/986 2.7l (986-605-115-01) will fit Porsche 986 2.5l? 2. It was a lot of threads about conversion 986 into turbo front. I know it's neceserry to change fenders too to fit the turbo headlights. Really? I heard somwhere that you can keep 986 fenders after changing headlight tray. Is it true?
  11. Aftermarket HID kits are illegal. That's a fact. But everybody can retrofit the headlights with xenon. Instead of using cheap japanese kits buy original (for example hella, philips, denso) ballast with (which is very important) D2R bulbs. These bulbs were made for cars like mercedes, acura etc. If you have a projector headlights like bimmer you have to use D2S bulbs. The only problem is, that you have to make some modification in order to fit these bulbs into your old socket, plus wiring mods. This is not a plug and play. :lightbulb: This is standart D2S bulb. You see clear glass. This is D2R bulb for non-project headlights. On glass there is a special cover.
  12. Have you ever heard about Copart. (www.copart.com). You can buy a damaged or totaled car for really really cheap, take what you need and send rest of it to the junkyard. The only problem is you need a dealer who will buy it for you. Sometimes you can get front damaged (not to bad) Boxster for couple hundreds dollars. Go to body shops and ask if anybody has access to that auction. Good Luck.
