  1. I've noticed that my car is sounding better and better as time goes on. The muffler definitely requires a break-in period. Marc Hi again Marc, where is the cheapest place you have found for your style muffler. I tried one of the Dansk sausage-shapped mufflers on my 2.7L and the 2-3K resonance drove me nuts. I think the pressed-style Dansk that you got should allow for a little better flow rate and not have that annoying 2-3K resonance. Any thoughts after living with your muffler for a while would be appreciated, Ed
  2. Does anyone know if the flow rates are the same for an OEM Non-S and a S muffler. I was searching on the site and could not find any information. I would think that the 3.2 motor would require a higher flow rate than the 2.7. The reason I am asking is that I would like to have a higher flow rate on my 2.7L exhaust system which is running headers and high-flow cats, but with my stock 2.7L muffler. BTW, I have had my Boxster in the shop for a week, I will be picking it up tomorrow. It is having Bilstein PSS9 suspension installed, I cannt wait.... Ed
  3. Hi, is there any reason you got the pressed-type Dansk muffler instead of the smooth style? I have been thinking of adding a Dansk muffler to my 2.7L 2000 Boxster. Also, what do you think of the sound compared to the stock muffler, thanks, Ed
  4. I dont know about a 3.2L engine, but I can give you feedback on the mods on my 2000 2.7L Boxster, which are still in process, I am having a final remapping of my AutoThority chip, hopefully next week. I will run a dyno on it when it gets done. The mods I have done inclued a TTP intake, TTP headers and Cats with a stock muffler. I am also using a AutoThority ECU chip. The car is running great, but the dyno shows it is running a little rich over 5K, so the chip will be remapped to take that into account. Car sounds great, and is quite responsive with a very flat torque curve from a little over 2K to redline. I am seeing 202 HP and 169 ft/lbs on the dyno which works out to about 237 hp and 198 ft/lbs at the crank (figuring a 15% loss). I expect to pick up another 5-10 hp when the chip gets remapped for my intake and exhaust. When the dust settles, these mods are going to end up costing me about 200.00/HP, so they are not cheap, but I have been having a great time messing with the car for the last couple of months, and it runs like a dream...... at least so far..... BTW, I am not really in a position to sell my car and get another one. Also, I really like the 2.7L engine, I can get 30 mpg on the highway if I behave myself. Based on my experience, if I would only do one thing, I would get a good ECU chip. Ed
  5. I have been playing with exhaust systems lately on my 2.7L 2000 Boxster. I have tried different combinations of Fabspeed Cat-Bypass Pipes, TTP headers, 100-Cell cats and both stock and Gemballa mufflers. The car seems to like the stock header/Fabspeed Cat-Bypass/stock muffler combination pretty well (198 whp). But it runs and sounds best with TTP headers/100-cell cats/stock muffler (202 whp). But what suprised me was that it did not like the TTP headers/100-cell cats/Gemballa muffler combination. I did not even run a dyno on the rig because it was not running well at all (also, that combination was too loud for my tastes). The Gemballa muffler seemed like it had pretty free flow compared to the stock muffler, so it got me thinking about what the optimum back-pressure in the exhaust system is for the 2.7L engine. Anyone have any ideas about what is the optimum back-pressure or exhaust is for this engine, Cheers, Ed <_< 2000 2.7L Boxster, 50K
  6. I will also be interested in that document. I recently had the stereo upgraded by our local auto stereo shop that has done my other cars, but this was his first Porsche, gulp. He seems to have done a good, but not spectacular job, at least from what I could see from the install, system sounds very good, now, except for lack of subwoofers. Here is what I had done. Replaced CD player/tuner with top end Pioneer unit with XM Replaced dash speakers with JL audio 4" drivers (had to mod the mounting brackets) Replaced door subwoofer drivers with JL audio 6" drivers (had to cut out box to fit larger drivers) Powered speakers with large outboard JL audio Slash series Amp (4X75 watts) I would like to figure how to get some kind of subwoofer system for the car, any ideas?
