Hi I am looking for some assistance / advice. I have a UK 2004 Cayenne, occasionally when trying to start the engine will start to crank then stop, the dashboard display goes off and the clock resets to zero. Looks like total power failure. After a couple of hours the car will start. Sometimes I have jump started the car after which it starts and runs fine for a few days. The first time it happened I assumed that the battery failed, I removed it and to replace it, my local the garage checked the battery and declared it ok. I re-installed it and charged it after which it ran for a couple of months nand the issue reappeared. Possibly the battery is at fault, however I don't want to buy a new battery and find that the fault lies elsewhere. So my question would be "what else could cause the a temporary power loss?" I don't have the electrical circuit diagram so don't know what else to look for. I did wonder if it might be the starting motor or solenoid, possibly a bad spot on the flywheel or starter motor bendix. I would appreciate any suggestions.
