  1. The car had literally been traded in the previous evening. They had not touched the car at all. I put my finger in the tip & the oil was ‘pitch black’. Having owned 3 Boxsters and a 911, I have never seen that in an exhaust before.
  2. I was just thinking the coolant might not be circulating with warm water at the front of the car but cold at the back. Really I want to take the car back to the indie who did the work but it’s 60 miles away. Don’t want to risk the drive if the coolant is not getting round as it should.
  3. A good friend asked me last week to have a look at a 2005 997.1 Carrera S Cab. I went to see the car, which had been traded in. It had 59,000 miles, the engine sounded good.. no tapping noises etc. When I mentioned borescoring, the salesman told me the car had been borescoped 🤥 & it was fine. I went to the back of the car and in both of the exhaust tips I found black oil residue. I told my mate it would be best to forget any idea of buying it.. £28,000 by the way. Thoughts please.
  4. I’ve read that the IMS bearing in 2006 onwards cars have a larger, stronger IMs bearing. Can this still be changed for an upgrade just to be sure or is it not as accessible as the smaller bearing in the earlier 997’s? regards.
  5. Took the car 8 miles today for fuel, the rubber coolant hoses in front of the front wheels were both warm.. however the coolant in the expansion tank was still cold.
  6. Just to add. The car is 2007 997.1 3.6 Tip. & has just had new coolant pipes, front to back. New LTT fitted. Also PSE removed & Aftermarket sports back boxes fitted. Engine out & new RMS. the work was done prior to the problem. But the system has been drained & refilled using vacuum by another Indy closer to home to avoid driving distance. Alert on dash says (picture of thermometer) failure indicator.
  7. Just to add. The car is 2007 997.1 3.6 Tip. & has just had new coolant pipes, front to back. New LTT fitted. Also PSE removed & Aftermarket sports back boxes fitted. Engine out & new RMS.
  8. I had stiff Tiptronic shifter.. I took it to Indy, who changed the transmission oil, cleaned the linkage .. it was like a brand new gearbox!!!
  9. P1656 coolant shutoff valve & state: Current Driver, coolant change-over valve. then P2181 Pending Cooling System Performance
  10. I have the same issue on a 997.1 3.6 Tiptronic. Anyone got to the bottom of it yet?
