  1. Guys, thanks for your comments. What would you recommend as a good plugging, capping mechanism and material?
  2. In preparation for dropping the engine out of my 1998, the fuel line connector was disconnected as was instructed in the "101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster" and "The Porsche Boxster Service Manual". It notes that a small amount of fuel would leak. In my case there has been 3 gallons and it was still draining. I had to reconnect the connector to stop the fuel from flowing. Prior to disconnecting, the battery cables were disconnected, the C4 fuel fuse was pulled and the gas cap was on then taken off to see if that had an effect. Nothing slowed the fuel from flowing. What am I missing? Any ideas as to what is causing the continuous flow of fuel?
  3. Does anyone know where I could find the flatness spec for a 1998 Boxster cylinder head or cylinder block?
  4. I have 1998 Boxster with a coolant leak into the number 6 cylinder. I have done a compression test and leak-down test on all of the cylinders and the other cylinders don’t exhibit any issues. There is significant air blowing through the coolant reservoir on the number 6 cylinder leak-down test. There is a milky appearance in the oil. The coolant was drained and there is no oil appearance in the coolant. Upon researching into the possible causes for coolant leaking into the number 6 cylinder indicates that there could be cracked head gasket, a cracked cylinder head or a cracked cylinder. Are there any other areas that could be the problem? My question is what would be the mechanical cost to fix any one of the possible problems and where would be a location as to where a replacement part could be purchased? 5. Is it practical to perform a wet compression test on a 986 Boxster due to the horizontal orientation. If so, any recommendations on how to effectively squirt oil into the cylinder to properly line the cylinder wall. I don't want to start and warm the engine because there is a coolant leak in one of the cylinders.
  6. I have been able to free up the crankshaft pulley by turning over the engine via the starter then manually turning the crankshaft pulley with a socket wrench. Thanks for your consideration.
  7. Prior to pulling the plugs the engine was started and ran with no issues. The transmission was in neutral and the clutch was depressed when trying to turn the crankshaft pulley.
  8. I want to do a leakdown test on my 1998 Boxster, I need to rotate the crankshaft pulley to position the cylinders to top dead center, but the crankshaft pulley does not turn when a socket wrench is applied to the crankshaft pulley. What is needed to free up the crankshaft pulley? The engine is in the car. Please advise. Thanks.
