  1. Most likely, it is one of the axel assemblies. For some reason, a lot of shops do not properly clean, Loctite, and torque the axel flange bolts; and they back out, killing the drive. Usually, fresh bolts, Loctite and re-torque is all that is needed, as long the flailing axel didn't hit anything important…………

+1 for a CV joint coming off the bell housing side. Look under your car at the back, center left and center right: if it is the case, one CV joint's gearbox end is most likely resting on the respective side's lower control arm. 15 minutes fix and you are on your way.

  2. Hi guys,

yesterday, i jumped in my car (1987 Boxster). The sun was shining, no rain. I started the engine and the windshield wipers started to work. I pulled it down but it did not stop. I pushed it up and pulled it down again but it is still working...

The thing is - i can choose between speed 1 and speed 2, but intervall and stopping it is not working!

Looks like the steering column switch has a problem. Do i have to get a new one (part# 996.613.217.10 ? - speed control, no bord computer) or would it make sense to open the part (if possible) and get it maybe fixed or could it also be another part that is not working?

    Thanks,

    Simon

PS: The only way now to stop the windshield wipers from working is pulling out the fuse...

Similar thing happened to me last week-end, with the turning signal. I picked-up a complete switch unit (gently used) for $30.00 on eBay. It's in the mail and will install it when it arrives.
