Makes sense. So is there no way to make this other wheel work, in your opinion? This wheel was swapped into the car prior to my ownership. -

Hi everyone, I have some updates here! I've fixed the side mirror issue (someone just reinstalled the switch upside down). The horn is still a mystery. With several Porsche specialist mechanics, I've determined that the horns, relays, wiring, fuses, and control module all work properly. I have no airbag lights and the clock spring seems to be fine. However, when the horn button is pushed on the wheel, the horn doesn't honk. We determined that the new wheel is also from a 997 (part# 997.347.803.85). We tried reprogramming the car, through a PIWIS, to indicate that a multifunction wheel was installed, but it created a new issue: The horn would only STOP honking when the horn button was pressed. Apparently, the 997.2 wheels are not plug-and-play, as the "new" wheel has a different grounding point than the original one. The new wheel has a grounding wire that plugs into a grounding clip on the metal bracket. Has anyone successfully done this swap? Basically, I need to reverse the behavior of the horn pressing after coding a multifunction install. Thanks!

Hello! I recently acquired a 997.2 Coupe 6-spd (2009) and it has two weird electrical-related issues that I'd love to get some color on: 1. The prior owner replaced the stock steering wheel with the Porsche Alcantara sport steering wheel, but the horn no longer works when the center is pressed. Is there any way I can diagnose the issue with a Foxwell OBD-2 scanner or a PIWIS laptop (someone in my local Porsche club has one)? I was told it just needed to be "coded" but I don't know the procedure. It could be a relay/clockspring issue, though I'm not sure. 2. The side mirror controls are completely inverted (turning the knob to the left controls the right mirror and vice versa and moving up pushes the mirrors down, left goes right, etc). Is this an easy fix? Thanks in advance! Max
