  1. Boxer 986 MY2003 2.7 Vari Cam bought as a non runner. SO car had water leak into footwell and damage/possible internal corrosion to loom. Some of the common wires had been joined up (black and red). 86s on ignition circuit was dead. I have taken the car to bits and replaced the loom with a 2nd hand one. Sadly the 2nd loom is from a more basic car without stability control so different abs connector. ACU and DME have been replaced and programmed with my cars options and engine. I am using a durametic which will not currently communicate with the DME. I have errors:- I32 21 W lead (DME Immobiliser) i48 21 ECM/pcm Processor The steering wheel and airbags are disconnected and I have also have 21 Drivers AIrbag codes on ignition circuit. Given that fault code 21 is featuring, could the faults be related? Do the airbags need to be connected for the car to energise the w lead?
  2. Just wanted to post a "good luck" from over the pond. I am on a similar journey with a boxer so same wiring as a 996. Mine had water getting the air filter housing and this had flooded the under seat area. I had a good DME and the Alarm module reprogrammed by a very helpful specialist. When I started pulling the car apart I found all sorts of issues with the wiring loom. Some common circuits had been joined up and they had issues with the 86s circuit. I lost confidence in the loom, so took it out and replaced it one from a wrecked car. However, the replacement loom does not have same options and most importantly no Porsche stability control. I have now learnt that my car has YAW control as part of the Stability control and the ABS pump connector is different. I am currently thinking about repairing the old loom, as the car has fault codes and the Durametic can not communicate with the DME.
  3. Hi I have bought my first Boxer as a project. 02 986 Facelift. Bought as a non runner with no keys. I have spent a small fortune on getting a 2nd hand acu programmed by a well known specialist on the south coast with a new remote. This has all been tested on a bench. But when back in the car it still does not crank. I have had to rip out the aftermarket stereo as it was not working and causing issues. I was getting all sorts of codes to do with the alarm. They are all clear now. So after a bit of testing circuit 86s is dead. No power to the key transmitter to read the key and switch off the immobiliser.
