  1. I have a MY 2000 Boxster S. I took it for a short drive and noticed that there was no oil that is registering on the Engine Oil Level Guage. I checked the oil manually using the dip stick and all is well, so i continued my drive home. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check, loose connection, etc.? I did add a few ounces to bring the oil level up to max on the physical dip stick but still do not receive an oil level on the display screen.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. DIY: V1 Install on 996 Without Auto-Dimming Mirror

Update to Post DIY: V1 Switched Power Hardwire Installation, V1 Switched Power Hardwire Installation BY: 1080iAddict http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...l=valentine+one Here are the changes that I found on my 996 (without auto-dimming mirror option) from the 997 in the post listed above. Postive Lead is Red/Black Stripe Negative Lead is Brown This install is non-switched, so you will have to turn off your device manually. Enjoy, Andrew

  3. Does anyone have a model year comparison between 02 and 03 for the Boxster and Boxster S?

Opinion Wanted: I am looking at a 02 Boxster S and an 03 Boxster. They are the roughly the same money, and mileage. The 03 appears to have more options, Bose Radio upgrades, seat upgrades, and trim. I am looking for a reliable daily driver to add to my garage. What would you choose and why? Thank you for your comments.

  4. Hello,

I haven't drove my 03 Targa since Sunday 11/4. This morning I had to get a few things out of the car, and the keyfob wasn't unlocking the doors, the hood, or the glass hatch. I thought maybe my battery died, though the security light was still blinking red, I tried to open the door with my key and that wouldn't work either. Do you think my battery is dead? It's only been 7 days or maybe my key got damaged or out of sync with the security system some how?

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Please clarify, your physical key will not unlock the car door? I have had a similar issue where my key fob will not unlock any doors after a few days of not being used. I have always unlocked the driver’s door physically, (alarm may sound) click the unlock on the fob then all is well.

  5. 986 Questions.

How reliable is the 986 series? I am planning on using it for a daily driver including winters (Wisconsin), about 7000 miles a year. With a full set of snow tires is it an acceptable, reliable vehicle? I have no doubts that it isn’t reliable, I am just looking for input, examples or suggestions if anyone has any. I would consider a Cayenne, but garage space is extremely limited, and my snow/ice winter driving will be very limited.

Anything I should be on the lookout for prior to purchase specifically relating to the 986?

What model year did Porsche start use of a glass rear window? Does the rear window contain the defrost option?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, comments.

    Andrew
