  1. Dear all, I have recently had the opportunity to do fast toll road runs between here and the airport on sunny Costa del Sol AP7. Basically it is a well maintained toll road with no speed traps and little traffic. The locals won't pay to use this road - it's only trhe Brots and Germans so standard of driving is relatively high!! I have found that after 220 Km/h (140 mph) my car simply feels unsafe whereas fast audis screem past me. Is this because I have a cabriolet?? i.e. would the higher torsional stiffness of the coupe make things feel safer at speeds above 220/140mph?? I would be interested to hear anyone's considered viewpoint.
  2. Shortly looking for new rubber. Currently have Pirelli zeros on my 18" wheels with sports susp. Any recommendations vis a vis rubber Co?? My own view on existing rubber is that they grip well but wear out more quickly than others....
  3. Fortunately I have kept a record of my oil consumption - added another 400ml this morning! I'll post it later and see if Loren/ anyone else thinks I should leave it alone or start pushing the garage.
  4. Can you get GT3 to sit 2+2 as per "normal" 997??
  5. Thanks guys for comments. Just read article from Oct'06 issue of 911&Porsche World magazine where the test driver (David Murry) takes Tiptronic S 997TT around Watkins Glen International circuit. He keeps it in "D" all the way.
  6. Guys, Any thoughts on ordering 997 TT with tiptronic gearbox. Recently read article where test driver/motoring journalist had manual TT for one week in everyday situation - i.e. going to shops/taking kids to school!. Said he was getting tired of hitting the rev limiter all the time when he decided to open it up on UK roads. I assume the clutch is heavier than 997S??
  7. Izzy, Su Espanol es muy bien! In typical Spanish style as there was no leak coming from the engine underneath I got a simple shrug of shoulders by the mechanic, and told everything was OK. Not quite sure how far to push it now. I am open to suggestions. Fortunately the service manager's English is better than my Spanish.... Next service is not until next summer based on the mileage I am doing..
  8. Put it up ramp today at Marbella Official Porsche Centre. Mechanic happy there are no leaks and has suggested that as I am not exceeding 1.5 Litres oil per 1,000Km, then this is within normal tolerance. Only suggestion offered is that they change oil at next service to a slightly "thicker" grade, which I note has been suggested elsewhere on this forum. Comments please?
  9. It's a shame you guys over the pond cannot have the European rear bumper. It's so much "cleaner" in design.
  10. Saw two today; one in light silver and one in a mid grey colour. Gun metal grey looked very stealthy esp with standard "red" calipers. Light silver one with ceramic "yellow calipers" looked boring in contrast. Both were manual but that's the fashion down here in sunny Espana!!
  11. Hi, only recently joined this forum. I have 2003 996 C4 cab. Burning oil too but not as much as chap above. What is an oil separator?? Based in southern Spain with very little speed traps hence car is driven "rather well". I am using 1 litre/quart every month.<1,000Kms/month. (Car only done 22,000 kms.) Fortunately still have 5 months of warranty left. I am still going to get it checked though. Cheers Robbie
