  1. Hi all Ive just joined as I recently purchased a 2000 996.1 Carrera and so far loving the owner ship. Its a high miler but the previous own kept on top of maintenance so its been well looked after. As its 24 years old, it has some issues I want to address so was hoping to find answers on the forum and from everyones help 🙂 So its got the common key fob failure. However I managed to get one key working with a fresh battery but it doesnt always work. I also saw the guide on to expose the antenna wire behind the A-pillar trim which I did. I just pulled it out the wrapped loom and left it free behind the A-pillar trim. It helped abit for a couple of days but now its not working again or very randomly will work. Any recommendations on what I could try next on this? The steering lock doesnt always work. Is there a trick on engaging it when taking the key out? I managed to get it to lock a couple of times but havent been able to repeat it. It currently has the oem Becker CR 220 headunit, 6 disc changer, Haes amplifier and the DSP button panel in the centre console. It doesnt sound great tbh and I usualy have the DSP button panel off as it only really makes an echo effect to the sound. I wanted to know how simple it is to just upgrade all the speakers in the car and still have them run off the oem amplifier? I have speakers in the rear side panels also. Ive also fitted a simple bluetooth module to the aux on the back of the H/U but was looking for something that will let me control next and previous track from the H/U using the cd changer connection. Any recommendations for something that will allow this? The car never came with the control for the OBC and I saw this can be retrofitted with the OEM stalk or with retrofit dash button. I currently have the temperature displayed under the MPH reading on the centre screen. Does this mean I have the OBC enabled? I was looking to fit a dash switch like some of the how to guides to be able to scroll through the OBC. Any tyre recommendations for the stock 18" tyres? I was looking at Michelin PS4 but open to suggestions. Been used to Yokohamas in the past. Will be using the car mainly for street/fast road use How simple is a rotor/discs and pad change? Can it be done with the car sitting on jack stands on the driveway? The suspension is also pretty tired as its never been replaced since the car was new. Ill eventually get to this though. Was looking to go down the coilover route and maybe have the bushings done with an oem control arm kit to make life easier doing the change Sorry for all the questions. Would really appreciate any help and direction Thank you 🙂
