I pulled my CDR-220's serial number (press TP until "Becker" appears, rotate right hand knob) so that I can get the radio code. Trouble is, my dealer wants to charge me to look it up. Can someone here get my radio code via the serial number, or should I try calling another dealer?

If it matters, we've only got one Porsche dealer here in Alaska.

AH, a correction. I guess the fluid wasn't changed at the 30K service, as the receipt didn't list it.

Time for new fluid! Anyone with first-hand experience on alternative fluids?

2000 S, 39K miles, 6-speed manual.

The shift action when cold (below 60 degrees) is horrible, but improves to an acceptable level once the transmission has warmed up. Despite that, it doesn't shift anywhere as good as my '99 Boxster did with 34K miles. I had a shop verify the fluid was full and the car had the 30K service 11K miles ago. Clutch action is normal, with the engagement in the top 30% of the pedal travel, no slippage. Stock shifter.

Is there perhaps a better fluid I could add for smoother shifts? I've used Redline MTL or Gear oil in previous cars. I miss being able to bang through the gears. I'm careful to baby it until it warms up so as not to make it worse.

My '99 Boxster had a button on the dash to disable the traction control. My 2000 S doesn't have it. While racing, it came in handy. If I were to buy the switch, does the necessary connection exist to install it?

Goodyear Eagle GSD3s are the only tire used by the Bob Bondurant school of driving. I noticed every car they had there (Corvettes, CTS-Vs, and Mustangs) had those tires. Goodyear is a sponsor of the school, but they probably like the tires, too.
