  1. No, no speaker mods. Guess I'll have to take it to the dealer for a checkout. No fuse plan on the back of mine for some reason. I did manage to get a copy of an 03 fuse plan though. I am assuming they are probalby very similar. I did not know that the windows were the only thing on that circuit. That takes my radar detector and tire pressure monitor out of the equation. Thanks for all your help. This forum is great. Some forums are good for shopping for wheels, etc... If you want to get something technical figured out, this is the place to go. Thanks.
  2. Thanks. Seems odd that it's blown twice in the past four or five months. Any idea what I should be looking at here? Do you know where I can get a copy of the fuse plan? I saw someone posted about an older pcar fuse plan and someone was able to post it so he could print it. I've searched and I can't find them anywhere. It's not on the inside of my fuse panel cover.
  3. This is the second time in a couple months. Any idea what I should be looking for here? I have a tire pressure monitor and a V1 hooked into the factory cell phone power lines. Both of those draw minimal amps, even at full warning. They are both functioning but the power windows are not (the small ones in the back are though). I'm confused. Any ideas? Also, anybody know what fuse is the power windows? I don't have a fuse plan and it took me forever last time to figure out what fuse it was. Or, if you could point me to an online fuse plan for an 02 C2, that would be great too.
  4. thanks man. i got bored and pulled them all till i found it :) you were right. d1 was it. the fuse plan wasn't there for some reason. any idea where i can get a copy of one. i really need to put a copy of this back in the fuse panel or in my glovebox. any clue as to why the window fuse would blow? i don't think i've ever blown a fuse in any car i've ever owned. i wasn't even putting the window down when it happened. i went to close the door and heard a thump. ouch. that was the window not dipping down to fit in the upper door sill.
  5. it's not on the inside of my fuse panel cover. my windows stopped working today and i have no idea which fuse it is. any idea where i can get a copy of that fuse plan. it's not in the owner's manual either.
  6. Thanks. Got off the phone with their tech support regarding a hard wire kit. Doesn't come with one. They recommend cutting the cigarette lighter off. White wire is power and the black is ground. They said it's not required, but you can put a 2amp fuse inline if I want.
  7. oh, and from what i can tell, all they offer is a cigarette lighter adapter for power. so i assume i'm gonna have to pull that adapter apart, figure out which wires are negative and positive, and wire in a fuse?
  8. from V1's site: 425 mA maximum alarm condition from tiresmart's directions: 110 mA maximum during alert am i correct in assuming that 425ma is the same as 4.25amps? so if i'm reading this right, if both units are running and alerting at the same time, it should be maxed at 5.35 amps???
  9. Bear with me. I'm a little slow here :) I don't have any of those options you mentioned above. Question for you..... So, if I add how many amps the V1 and the tire pressure monitor draws together and it's less than 7.5, I should be good right? Also, I know the V1 has an inline fuse with it's direct wire kit. Not sure if the monitor does or not, as it has not arrived yet. Do you think it would be a good idea to add an inline fuse just slightly larger than what the tire monitor draws if it doesn' have one? I was on another forum and somebody said it probably wasn't necessary, but I'm no electrician :)
  10. I've got an 02 C2. I currently have my V1 hardwired into the switched phone power cable in the center console. I am going to install a tire pressure monitor. I assume it has a hard wire kit, if not I'll have to see how many amps it draws and put a fuse inline. Anyway, will that switched cell phone line be enough for the radar and tire monitor at the same time?
  11. I am a cab owner as well, and have looking for good suspension upgrades. I got the same answer from checking a with a dealer as well that the X74 was coupe only. I am a little cautious about what I'm going to select now after speaking with Bilstein US yesterday. He wouldn't sell me the PSS system because the cab body has too much flex with race suspensions and has had 996 cabs with the PSS flex their windshield out. He said there was potential for permanent body damage. Probably not the case with the x74. Gert seem to know his stuff and probably wouldn't sell it to you if it wasn't a good fit. Just something to think about RFcab when making your selection.
  12. No, the set bolt isn't an issue. I literally can't get the tip to slide back on to the tail pipe. The fit is so tight it just won't go on. Is there a special tool or trick for getting these on? It's the same tip and tailpipe I was using before, so I can't figure out why it's such a tight fit, although I did have to yank on them a bit to pull them off. Trying to be as gentle as possible as they're powdercoated now and I don't want to scuff or scratch the tips.
  13. Just installed my new cargraphic exhaust. Sounds "the dog's danglies" as you guys in the UK say :) It reuses the stock tips and the last section of stock piping that the tips mount on to. I had the tips ceramic coated black. Tried to get them back on and they wouldn't go. Ended up scratching them up pretty bad with the rubber mallet and such. Anyway, had them powdercoated this time for a more durable finish. Heat shouldn't really be an issue with the tips anyway. What is the best way to get the tips back on. It is a really really snug fit. Don't know why porsche makes it so tight since they're bolted on anyway. Is there a trick to this? I already have the cans and the piping mounted so I can drive the car. I'd prefer to mount them with the exhaust still on the car. I've seen the dealer do it, so there must be a way.
  14. Actually, I ended up going with the cargraphic export exhaust. I did like the PSE a lot, but I'm kind of hooked on the cargraphic stuff. I figured the install is the same no matter what the brand. Before I broke something, I took it to the dealer and they opened the clamps up with some spreader pliars. Neat tool. I bent the **** out of one of the clamps trying to do the screwdriver thing. We got it bent back more or less. Should be fine once it's tightened up. The tech did tell me that you should tighten the pivot points with an air tool. He said that leaks at that point are very common. He told me once I got it positioned the way I wanted to bring it by and he'd sockem down. Deke: Good meeting you as well. That meet cost me a small fortune. I ended up buying a set of cargraphic wheels, exhaust, and springs. Ugggh. My mod budget is blown for the next two years :)
  15. I tried to paint the calipers this weekend with Foliatec. I've used it in the past and got really good results. I got a really old batch this time not knowing it. It was dated 2001. Came out like crap. It was too thick and was showing brush marks when it dried. Anyway, this stuff is hard as a rock and lasts forever. It's a ***** to get off. I've been using a gritty sandpaper, but it's taking forever. I've got a new batch of G2 paint coming, which is supposed to be even better. Need to get most of this other crap off if possible. Any suggestions for stripping them down?
  16. How do you get the swivel joint clamp on and off the pipe? This thing is wearing me out. I bent the crap out of the right one before I finally quit for the night. Porsche exhausts are a nightmare compared to anything else I've ever seen. So how do you install and remove that clamp without destroying it. There has to be a trick there. Seems like the bolt holes want to bend before the clamp will open enough to be removed or installed. Help!
  17. Thanks. Got it figured out. More stable than I thought it would be once I got working there. I'm still going to look for the flat tops with pins though. THose ACs are nice, not cheap though.
  18. Never mind. I need to get back on the short bus. I'm such a retard. I figured it out. Geeeessss. Porsche makes this a pain in the ***. Time to put my helmet and bibb back on and get to work :)
  19. I loosened and slid over the clamps that hold the muffs on to the cats. I removed the exhaust tips. I only found two out of the three bracket bolts on each muffler. Still looking for the third. It is hidden up there somewhere out of sight? Here's my biggest problem. The two brackets I found so far have a long vertical bolt with a nut on the bottom and hex head on top. However, there is only about one inch of clearance above the top of the bolt. There is not enough clearance above the bolt to slide it all the way up and out. It is the same on both sides for both bolts. How the heck are you supposed to get them out of there? This should be really simple. My dealer just had the pipes off recently. If they got these bolts back in there has to be a way of getting them out....
  20. Need to get all four corners on jackstands. What's the safest way to do it? My jackstands have the curved tops. Seems like they wouldn't be all that secure on those tiny stock lift points. Any ideas?
