  1. Update:

I figured out how to remove them.  For some crazy reason, you must turn both of them clockwise gently.  Turn it so that the bottom notch lines up with the hole.  Then pull them out.   You may need to push it from the bottom initially.   I had to take pictures to understand how this works and I am attaching few of them... hopefully it will help others looking for the same info.

Picture 1: Turning clockwise almost there.

Picture 2: Ready to be pulled out.

    Picture 3: In locked position.

I replaced the serpentine belt.   Man... the space is super tight there, but it is done!

    Cheers,

    -K

  2. Never mind. I reconnected the charged battery to the car and it fired right up!! WOOT!! :D

    My first post here.

So, my ignition key started acting up a month or two ago and I have not driven the car for 3-4 weeks. The bad ignition key switch drained the battery. Luckily, the car was unlocked and I finally got time to replace the ignition switch part on Friday. I put the battery for charge. In the meantime, I tried to jump start using my wife's Mini and my Jeep. No luck! :(

When I tried jump starting, all I hear is click-click (starter?) noise, and then all the lights light up on the dash like it is Christmas and windows try to roll down (they are already down). The hazard lights start flashing until I take the key out.

Did I put the wrong ignition key part? I tried the old ignition key switch and I cannot even turn the ignition key to attempt to start the car. I got the correct switch (part number 4A0 906 849 B). I checked the serpentine belt and made sure all the pulleys spin freely. So, nothing is stuck there.

What has happened to my car and what must be wrong? :( Please help!!

    Thanks,

    SK.
