  1. We have the 1.4 update for the last 6 months or so. Also have had two replacement PCM modules. Problem of rebooting, which was the orginal complaint still occurs, abet with much less frequency. Seems to relate to the system heat soaking, ie shut off vehicle after a reasonable run for 1/2 hour so. The system then does the reboot thing with some repeativeness. Also happens when the bluetooth connected iPhone experience a weak cell signal. Don't undertand that corrolation.

    Hope this helps.

  2. My PCM3 (Second one) in 2009 GTS (PCM version 1.1) has started to fail for the second time. Symptom is the PCM reboots every ten minutes or so when following NAV route and wipers are set on rain sensing with light rain falling. Also bluetooth disconnects randomly without warning (no wipers for this failure)

Porsche has said they will have a software fix mid to late Jan. I am thinking of pushing a lemon law case.

    Opinions would be cheriched

  3. I have a K40 systems in 997 and V1s in all our others cars. We have a new GTS being delivered this week and my question is simple. What should I put in the GTS? We are 70% Florida small city town driving and balance I95 and I4 interstates. We heard the new redlight cams are coming to our area. My daughter has managed to collect four DC stationary camera based speeding tickets and she has a V1.

    Thank you

  4. I spoke to my regular service rep at the dealer today, after asking him about the traffic overlay by email. He didn't know much about it even after reading the TSB. The car is an '05 997, delivered March 2005 and we had the OEM nav installed a few months later. Anybody knowledgeable in PCM versions have a good understanding of whether the traffic overlay will work with a 997 this early in the production run? I assume I need to get newer maps and a software upgrade for compatibility with the traffic overlay. Anything else different about the early version relative to the newer model years I should be aware of?

The dealer also said the PCM in the 997 is the same as in the Cayenne, except for the form factor. Does anyone know if the traffic overlay upgrade will with with an '08 Cayenne S with the PCM/nav installed as factory original (or does the Cayenne already do this)? We have one on order (should be on a boat by now) and would like to get it set up for the traffic when we pick it up (or at least get all the right stuff in the sales agreement)

I had the upgrade installed today at Porsche of Orlando. Kit cost about $325 (PCA price) and install (Update) about 1/2 hour. It comes with a new data DVD and 3 upgrade DVDs which have to be installed with a shop tester. Instructions (mutlilanguage) are 16 or so pages. I do not see yet any real differences other than the route planner function. Nothing evident about real time traffic. My wife has that in her LExus LS460 and it works great. My car is a 2007 Cab S with NAV and Sirius radio (from Cayenne). Also have Dension IPod dock, Mod4 kit from Whilhemy and Parrot 3100 Blue Tooth kit. More to follow once we get some time on it. The maps do appear faster, yet address sometimes are off. My office address shows about 1/4 mile from actual location. Main roads are great

  5. With a new unit from Dension (thanks to our installer who stocks them) and plugging it to the NAV head first, seems to work OK with no PWIS reprogramming. I have yet to try Customizing the Dension. I do notice that an apostrophe shows as a comma on the NAV (which is no big deal). Other than that with about 4 hours of use, quite happy, though I do wish now I had opted for Bose however.

  6. Thanks for info, sorry for duplication!!

carrying on the thread of the original install, I'm still having difficulties getting a stable system.

I have tried connections at two points in the MOST ring:

    1. CD - this allows control of the iPod, but drops the Telephone and the NAV system most of the time, and the PCM seems to spend alot of time trying to re-establish the connections.

    2. NAV - this provides a stable system, but no access to the iPod!

I have Dension testing my config. (MY05 PCM, Bose, NAV, GSM, latest 80GB iPod) but haven't had any feedback yet.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has had similar difficulties?

    Thanks

    Nick

We have PCM, NAV, latest Gen2 Nano with 1.1.1 firmware and SmartTOP on 2007 C2S and having similar issue with Gateway 500. We updated the Gateway to version 1.0 Firmware at Dension recommendation and it still intermittantly appears. Working with them to do a swap out. We cannot reliably get the Dension to show its splash screen on the NANO with only the NANO and the Gateway connected??

  7. I just added Satellite to my MY07 987 using the Cayenne parts. I kept the existing GPS Antenna and added the new Antenna under the Cowl just to the right of the Telephone Antenna (666 Phone option). I didnt remove the cowl, but affixed the

Antenna using Velcro and it seems to work ok. I may eventually replace the original existing Antenna by removing the cowl, but I'll see how this works first.

We mounted ours similarly last month using the Heavy Duty Gray 3M tape. Did have to cut the extra "ears" off of the Cayenne antenna. We do occasionaly get some drop out. Also we on occasion have "lost the Sat authorization". Seems to come back if we shut down car and re-cycle power.

  8. Hi,

I know you can add a phone. The dealer will program the computer

and install a atena in the trunk.

The navigation player cost $2,600 not installed.

If you put heaters in the seats, you probably need to replace

    the seats.

    Paul

Thank you. Have a local Tech putting in the Cayenne Sat radio System for 1,100 and he quoted me 1,500 for the Telco PCM system. I decided to go with the Parrot BlueTooth instead. Dealer says you can only install the standard NAV and not Extended NAV after market. Oh-Well
