Ok I went to a local Auto X and was searching for opinions on tires... First off I live in Sunny San Diego where it is never less than 72 degrees and rains about 1" a year... B)
Knowing this, multiple reputable 996drivers and three open wheel cart professionals recommend for my car the Kumho MX.
Ok so now you need to know: I have 18" factory chrome rims on a C2 with stock suspension (USA)... My car is for the most part a daily driver, but on the weekends I love to participate in local PCA club rides and few of us let loose so to speak.
So my question to you is:
For almost double the price and the Porsche "N" rating should I still go with the Pilot Sports or am I wasting my money...?
Paul
So Porsche spend hours and hours testing tyres to ensure maximum performance/safety and you want to compromise that with cheap tyres!! Stick to N ratings, there are plenty of options in the UK at least (Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental, Toyo, & Michelin)

I don't think that they make extra horsepower all by themselves. They provide extra cooling ,so it's an added benefit, especially if you're in hotter climates.
Actually, cooler (more dense) air provides more horsepower, thats why you have an intercooler, so if the X50 intercoolers are more effective, they should in theory increase power output by allowing the Turbos to deliver a bigger charge. Question is - is it worth the cost?
-
Has anyone tried retrofitting X-50 intercoolers onto the stock turbo, and do they make any difference to the BHP?

There are quite a few European sources for alternative front lip spoilers.
Try Cargraphic, or Gemballa

Are you sure it was made by Siemens, I always thought it was made by Becker

Do you have to have memory seats for this function to work?

I have just had fitted a Kenwood DV3200 SatNav unit in place of the original PCM1 in my 2001 996 Turbo.
I am experiencing some problems however, which I think are related to the speed pulse input.
I have used the pink/grey speed pulse input on the original ISO connector that was connected to the back of the old unit. When I first start everything works OK, but after stopping I lose the speed pulse signal.
Am I using the right signal input, or is there a more suitable speed pulse cable elsewhere
Any assistance welcome as this is very frustrating
Thanks

C4S/Turbo Fuel Guage Problem
in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)
Posted
I know this has been asked before, but I cant see that there has been any resolution to the problem.
Namely, after filling up with fuel, the guage still displays the "empty" reading. Then after 1 or 2 days, the guage mysteriously starts reading correctly again.
Have had a new sender unit, to no avail.
I am aware of all of the idiosynchrasies of the fuel guage system, and have tried removing the key whilst refuelling, and locking the car after refuelling, still has this problem, which happens every time I refuel incidently.
As I say, by searching the forum, I know others have seen this exact problem, but so far no suggestions as to what is causing it - Can anyoneplease assist me
Gary
