  1. Thanks djomlas how did you remove the plastic trims highlighted in the pic? also why did you left the speaker grille unpainted? was it because they are harder to access or just preference?
  2. Sound like PITA indeed. Would they look bad if I leave the louvres in place and paint the whole thing in silver? Im afraid there will be too much contrast with the center vent still in black. like this except the whole thing in silver. Do I need disconnect the side airbag wirings to remove the pocket lids? Handbrake won't be a problem as the rear center console's already been painted in silver from the factory so no need to remove.
  3. Thanks Chris for the heads up on separating screws. I didn't mean yours are unprofessional :D in fact from what I can see in the pictures they are as good as they get for a DIY effort  I'm getting my bodyshop to paint and fit a pair of side skirts for the boxster thus thought why not paint the interior pieces as well. He is doing the whole lot for a good deal so its all good. Now I just have to decide on a color. You see my car is Ocean Blue has blue seats, blue-purpleish door trim/carpets, black carpets, silver transmission console was optioned from the factory, silver roll bar and the rest is all black. What Im thinking to paint the center dash trim and side A/C vents silver to match the transmission console. Paint the rest in the exterior Ocean Blue color as its quite dark and would blend in well with silver/dark blue theme. Any suggestions?
  4. What do I think?...........I think.......you meant 6 into 2........... :P Pretty impressive for a naturally aspirated piece that was already decently equipped! NICE!..........Are those stainless?..........who makes them?...........how much? You are right! no idea where did the 4 into 1 came from?! :D Yes stainless. Brand is Maxspeed. There are at least two vendors on eBay selling these under different brand names, as far as I can tell they are from the same manufacturer. Here is a LINK
  5. Thanks guys. Thats exactly what I wanted to do. Except I will get them professionally sprayed with exterior paint. Will throw you a pm if I run into trouble removing them! Cheers
  6. I'm wondering how much hp does an 2005 3.2 actually puts out at the wheels? If anyone who's dynoed an 05/06 S could share the result with me would be great. Also is there any power difference between an Euro spec Boxster S and an US version? Thanks
  7. Is there a DIY guide for removing interior plastic pieces for 986? I want to paint all the black plastics in the cabin, door pocket lids, speaker grilles, ignition key trim, center dash trim, aircon vents and etc. Thanks
  8. Thanks I was wondering about why the irregular drop. This is actually my first N/A car with variable cams. The car definitely feels more alive above 4000rpm now. Do you know at what rpm does the variocam normally kick in? I've actually got the Euro spec Boxster S (Im in Australia BTW) which has no cats integrated in the headers so it made the job much simpler. Overall Im quite surprised with the actual gain from these headers as you said "almost 25hp at 105mph". Very happy with it. P.S. scheduled to get Giac next week :D
  9. Dynoed my 2000 Boxster S before and after with eBay 4 into 1 aftermarket headers. Here is the graph. (I have posted this on 986forum as well) The blue curve is the stock run, 4th gear. Didn't bother to open up the engine compartment so no rpm readings. As you can see at higher speed(=rpm) there are many inconsistent dips on the graph this is where I expect an aftermarket headers would improve over stock headers. Im also interested to hear what do you think the cause of these "dips" might be? Red is aftermarket headers with stock exhaust. Other than the different room temperature and humidity, I tried my best to keep everything else constant. Same type of fuel, same set of tyres with the same tyre pressure. I don't drive the car much so there were minimal tyre wear (about 2000kms of 80% highway driving). Let me know what you think. Cheers.
  10. Hi, I'm trying to find out the offsets of my wheels without taking them off the car. They are 18" Sport Design Rad wheel, code:XRL Factory option for my 2000 Boxster S. AFAIK they are 7.5" front and 9" rear. Thanks.
  11. ...I want proof:D Austrian made, for the ignorants. They also make the systems for Gemballa, ACS, Brabus and more. Thats what I thought although a little pricy. What do you think of this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-04-Porsc...29043QQtcZphoto? for less than half the price? I have one of these. It is a sweet sounding exhaust, and very light, but a little loud for my tastes. I want to modify my stock muffler like a PSE. Great! Did you find any annoying cabin drone? Were there any resonance in lower rpm range? From what I have read when you modify stock muffler like PSE it will sound like open valve full time, over 100db. and that's very loud.

  13. 1), Looking at buying a muffler for my Cayenne Turbo. Im not too fussy with brand names as long as it doesn't cause cabin drone whilst giving me the proper V8 sound. Need your suggestions on what muffler to get and where? 2), I've read a thread here about fabspeed secondary cat bypass pipes on Turbo which one member claimed losing 10hp at the wheels. Is this true? Has anyone else experienced similar results? Dyno graphs perhaps? Thanks
  14. which other forums do you find useful? Rennlist seems quiet for Cayenne discussions. 6speedonline has a little more Cayenne activities than both here and Rennlist.
  15. What do you think of this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Remus-Sport...emZ280136651476 Remus is a well known brand, judging by the look of the box it should be pretty quite compared to many droning mufflers out there. Claims up to 80% reduced back pressure. Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
  16. ok thanks. I have only two then no cats as part of the manifolds. Australia Im from. Why are they two plugs on the cat in that picture? One is oxygen sensor whats the other?
  17. Hi guys just want to find out how many cats I have on my Boxster S. Dealer told me its an 2000 model. Built plate say 1999. Notice on the second photo theres a pipe with what looks like an oxygen plug attached. Thanks
  18. Does it really work? After extensive research, apparently DMS is the best "chip" for a Cayenne turbo but I can get a good deal on GIAC. so if any CTT owner who has GIAC flash on their cars could share their experience would be great! What sort of quater mile time should be expecting from my CTT after a chip? While we are at it, whats your launch technique? Press the gas pedal as soon as green light? or launch at certain revs if the ecu allows it? How do I turn traction control off? What tyre pressure to use on 20inch wheels? and etc... Cheers
  19. Yep, I have an 2003 Cayenne, apparently its always been an option since then.
  20. De-snorkel does wonders for increasing induction sound, if want a step further it would have to be EVO intake (whole air box replacement) Exhaust size, good headers are essential to get the near GT3 sound. maybe also modify your muffler (bypass pipes)
  21. Design 911 still has them, just look under aerodynamics for 986. for some reason my vents are the same, the bottom part felt loose! im pretty sure the clips were inserted correctly.
  22. my grill or louvres were broken when I did the de snorkel mod so was thinking why not upgrade them to the 2003 look.
