  1. Maurice, Yes, I have had water under driver's seat and last time i took out the immobilizer and cleaned it all the contacts inside with a brush. I have the car in the garage now so I am not sure what to think. I also did a search on couple forums and no luck... About the buttons on the dashboard is this. My rear defog does not light or work, and the top switch neither lights or work when headlight switch is in the on position. Any help would be great. PS i just checked there is water under the seat now from the car wash... now what? is there a special way to clean it? .
  2. Hey, no i get no sounds but when this first happened most of the button that would light up when the headlights were on no longer light up. This is an on going problem. Also the lights on the door panels near the bottom corner nearest to the back of the car do not light up nor does the light on top where the convert latch is . These problems as well as the convertible top problem all came about at the same time. Are you suggesting to change the ignition switch? Also the brake light was lit when I tried to operate the top but did not work. I am at a loss.. and porsche independent shops will rape me cause they will be doing the samething just taking a stab at how to fix it. I might change the ignition switch but it seems pretty odd that would be the cause of it.
  3. A while ago my button on my dashboard would not open/close my top. I rarely drive the car but the other day I decided to drive it at night. Before turning on my light switch I put the top down and the button worked fine no problems. It opened and closed. At first I was like maybe back when was just a weird electrical error which fixed itself. After driving for some while I returned home and went to close the top and discovered it would not go up at all. For some reason I decided to shut the car off and then re-start it thinking that it might trigger the button for the top to work. Before I shut it off I turned off the light switch then shut it off. After re-starting it I never turned on the light switch and the top worked with out a problem. So i narrowed it down to the light switch which I then turned back on and the top stopped working. With all said what would cause this? What would the light switch have to do with the top button. Can some one please help me?
  4. Porsche fault code 93 - Tank vent system 34 Interior sensor faulty what do these mean...
  5. Ok I posted this problem about month ago and lil bastard (986forum member) responded. Here is the problem my rear defrost button does not work or light up and also my convertible top button does not light at all but works when my headlights are off(still no light but it operates to open the convertible top). If the headlights are on the top will not operate at all (also to remind everyone the e-brake is in the up position).Another problem is the console light at top and the door check lights are lighting up but very light almost like not much power is going to them. I checked both the A5 fuse and C3 fuse and they are both fine not popped (lil bastard suggestion . I am confused as to what it could be . The thing with the headlights being on and the convertible top not working is odd but then if i shut off the lights it is fine and openings and closing with no problem .(only thing it doesn't do is light up) . When i mean light up I mean that when the top is either up/down and I am driving with the headlights on the the defrost and convertible buttons do not light at all... What could it be? I am not sure this has anything to do with it but my alternator was replaced 2 mths ago and I am not sure if this happened before cause it had the hard top on it. Plus the car was sitting for a while. Also my starter has become to make the high pitch sound and I have ordered a new one but not sure these have anything to do with the problems i am having. What fuse controls the lights of the buttons and the console, door check lights if that is even the problem....I am also going to add one thing when i am driving out of the blue the sound goes off almost similar to the door being open but yet it's not. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. Actually I had the DSP unit in my boxster prior to the upgrade, so the trim was already there. Sorry I cant help, but as it was mentioned, it should be as simple as contacting sunset and telling them what you need :-) interested in making me a trim for the radio that you have and i will pay for it . I just need it to be covered in black vinyl. Let me know ... You can e-mail me at arlindanchris@aol.com
  7. I am glad you are appreciating the install. I'm loving it every day. There is just such a difference with a REAL low end and a well balanced stage of clarity from the main speakers at volume. For the double din, yes I removed the cross brace. I cut it with a dremel (I use that for everything!) and then smoothed the edge with an emory board. The plate covering I have fills in whatever noticeable change would have been there. After that I made my own bracket to mount the radio in the height and way I wanted it. I didnt have any issues with wiring the headunit... its pretty straightforward and there are a lot of references to the wires both here and elsewhere so you know what does what. As far as security well... thats a tough one. I dont leave my top down when im away from the car shopping etc, but if someone wants to gouge the top and spend time stealing the radio and amp etc, there is no way I can stop them. I dont see a porsche as the type of car people are fishing for radios from anyway, but if they are going to steal it I have no real solution for stopping them. It also makes me realize that it doesnt matter if we have a rag top or not, because even with a hard roof if they really want in, they just smash a window. Unless your top is down, I dont think its any much easier. Hope that helps... let me know how you make out with your stereo! When you moved your climate control from the top to the last slot you needed to buy the trim that fit at the bottom correct. Do you remember off hand what the part # was of the trim since i did the same install as of you and need to find the small trim to fit at the bottom.
