  1. So Bavarian.... did you get your hardtop hardware installation done in your 2004 C4S Cab???? I am anxiously waiting to hear how it went, if it was difficult and if you completed it. Please post all details so I can decide how to proceed with mine. I too just bought a hardtop for my 2004 and discovered that I am missing the hardware to secure the rear section of the top. Thanks for ANY help with this annoying problem.
  2. Thanks for the response and part numbers. Please keep me posted and let me know if the job is a DIY or should I pay to have it done. Mike
  3. Thanks Loren. What did Bavarian find out about the installation of the hardware? Is this doable? I'm a bit angry because my dealer who I bougth the car from told me that no additional parts or hardware was needed. Now I am stuck with a hardtop and am unsure what is involved in installing the locking mechanism. Mike
  4. I just bought a 996 Cabriolet hardtop off of ebay for my 2004 C2 Cab. The hardtop came from an 1999 996 C2 Cab. I want to install it before I pay to get it painted but it does not seem to latch on the rear. I can place the top on the car and latch the windshield lock but the two rear latches do not seem to have anything to latch on to. The two pins on the rear of the hardtop fit nicely into the holes but there is nothing in there for them to latch onto when I place the tool into the slot and turn the pins. What am I missing here? The dealer told me that the mechanism for all 996 cabs are the same and that no additional parts are needed to install the top. Shouldn't there be some kind of mounting hardware to which the pins on the rear of the top latch onto? I can see nothing of the kind inside the two holes that the pins can latch to when I turn them with the allen key tool. Any help getting this installed would be greatly appreciated. Mike
  5. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am down to half a tank of gas and I cannot get fuel into my tank. When I try the fuel will back up out of the filler tube and/or the pump handle will click off due to backpressure. I have tried at three different pumps on two different days with the same results. My local dealer says they have never heard of this and seems to think that it is user error or problem with the pump. I have listened for the electromagnetic click of the inner valve opening when the outer flap is opened and I do hear it. Still I am unable to get gas into the car. As mentioned above my car is an 2004 C2 Cab with 5000 miles on it. I bought it new with 19 miles so the entire history of the car is known to me. One more bit of info, all fuses are OK in the fuse panel. Please, any advice or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Mike
  6. I too have experienced the "floaty" feel on my 2004 C2 Cab. Quite frankly my Boxster S felt more planted on high speed curves than my 996 with standard US suspension. My question to you all is what exactly is replaced when you purchase the ROW 030 set up. I know it consists of springs and shocks but what else? What can one expect to pay for the upgrade in parts and installation? I've had my 996 now for nearly three months and am ready to get serious about suspension upgrade. Thanks all Mike
  7. I do have all the wiring diagrams and have installed the mirror and wiring harness. My problem comes from the fact that the connectors on the end of the brown wire (ground) and the brown/orange wire (power) will not plug into any open connection points on the underside of the relay tray. I have pushed, turned and cussed but it seems as if there are no connectors to plug into at points BS11 and BS 16/2. The wire will just drop back out when inserted into these points on the underside of the relay tray. I am starting to wonder if there have been changes on MY04. Are there any other points that I can pick up power and ground? How about directly at the fuse box? Doesn't the relay tray wiring go to the fuse box? Couldn't I pick up power there instead? Does anyone know which fuses are connected to the two relay points BS 16/2 and BS 11? Thanks again everyone Mike
  8. I have installed a Porsche self dimming rear view mirror that the dealer included with my 2004 C2 Cab when I bought it. I am having a heck of a time wiring the thing. The TSB for the install describes connection points BS 16/2 for the power and BS 11 for ground on the relay tray. After a great deal of difficulty I was able to drop the tray and access the under side where the connectors are supposed to fit. Here is my problem: They don't! The wires fall right back out and do not connect or clip into the holes in the underside of the relay tray. I have reviewed and printed the thread posted here about this install but have been unable to get this to work. I am quite frustrated with this project and don't know what to do at this point other than to remove the wiring harness and mirror I installed and replace the old one. Can anyone offer any help or advice on wiring this **** thing? Thanks allot for ANY help. Mike
