  1. Hey all, I have the same problem. Here is my story....

    1) brought my car to an Indy, they said it was a bad MAF sensor. Purchase new sensor but still having hard starts and P1130 and P1128 light.

    2) Thinking Dealer would know the most about these cars, I brought my car to the them and they said it was a bad AOS..... I got it replaced at an the Indy (Dealer wanted 1900.00)....The hard starting came back with the check engine light.....

    3) So now I am bringing the car back and bascially starting over....

Spending all this money and still cannot get to the bottom of it.....

    Oh I have a 1999 C4 with 104K miles

  2. Thanks for the reply. I hope the dealer will be able to tell me more as I do not want to start replacing parts and have the symptom remain. I have a small oil leak on the bottom of the car and it looks to be like the AOS...

How much is it to replace the AOS? is it a DIY?

Has your car stalled? I was pulling on of my drive way and the car stalled (its a tip)... it seemed like it was not getting the right amount of gas/air? I started it up again and it ran fine...

    Thanks for the help!

  3. Hi, a couple weeks ago I reported that I had trouble starting my 1999 996 C4 (102,000 miles). The car would crank but would not turn over. It would only start if I pressed the gas pedal down. This does not have everytime I start the car. I would say 1/10 times. I was advise that I could have a block fuel injectors so I had the fuel system cleaning done. The car was fine for a couple of days and then it returned.... I did not get an codes during this time....

Just now, I got the following three codes:

    P0446

    P1128

    P1130

I have read the post regarding these and was wondering if their is a connection? Is it time to take the car to the dealer and let them figure it out? Could a block fuel line cause these codes?

    Thanks for the help....

Oh and I have already cleaned the thottle body and MAF......

  4. Hi everyone, I need your help again.

I am having issues starting the car. When I put the key in and turn it, the engine cranks but will not start. The first time this happened, the engine started, but then quickly died. I then tred again and it only cranks (engine will not fire).

The only way to get it to start was to step on the gas and turn the key. Then it would crank and fire up.

I am not getting any fault codes on the dash.

    Any ideas?

    I have a 1999 996 C4. I hit 100K miles last week!

    Thanks.

  5. So I have bleed the car and the Coolant level has stabilized. But the coolant has started to leak again!!!! I am thinking I did not tighten the bolts from the water pump enough. Can anyone tell me how tight they should be??

Another issue is why would it start to leak now and not right after I replaced the water pump? I mean it was fine for 3 days and then the leak started again....

    Thanks everyone.

  6. JeTexas,

Great post on the changing of the coolant lines. I went to the local Porsche Dealer and got Hose: 996-106-850-00. From comparing what I see in the car, it looks like it fits. I wont know until I start taking things off and really comparing.

This maybe a stupid question, but did you drain your coolant out with the drain plug before you start work on the hoses? Also, from my picture above, do you think I should use a skinnier hose clamp? Would it stop my drip?

I ordered a new one from NAPA and not the rebuilt one. Hopefully the new ones will hold up longer than 6 months....
