  1. I ordered my set through http://www.livermoreperformance.com/

They were about the same price as Alex at Shark Werks (only spoke to him on the phone, but he was really helpful) could give me, and since I had dealt with Monty and Steve of Livermore Performance before I ordered it through them.

Drop shipped to my door (they should be on their way...!! :P ) for ~$2400.-

I plan on having a local shop install them, so if anybody has any tips on what to specifically be aware off, please let us know.

    Thanks, best regards, Pete

I have the PS19 damptronics installed and love the setup. Car was lowered, aligned, and corner balanced. Now it is a rocket on rails. Since they are not PSS9s (you want to keep using PASM), they have only 2 modes - normal and sport, controlled by the PASM button. I find "sport" to be pretty harsh on uneven freeway and other roads...

  2. I searched the forum and can't seem to find an answer to this question. How do you adjust PSS9 coilover shocks? The speed shop that installed them will not provide me instructions on how to change the setup - bump and height. They put in a PSS9 PASM coilover system (f/r) a few months ago. I'd like to play around with some of the settings. What do I turn on the shocks? Where are the dials on the shocks? What do the numbers on the shock dials actually mean? Should the dials all be set to the same setting? Do I need to jack up the car and remove wheels to adjst them? What tools are needed? Did any tools come with the shock kit (and I did not get)? Any help would be appreciated....

Did you get the tool for the shock/coil adjustment?

If not got back to the shop and ask for it - it came with the coilovers.

Thanks for your replies. The shop I went to for this work (a local speed shop) said they were installing PSS9, but what they really installed were PS Damptronics, because my car has PASM. Only ride height is manually adjustable (with the tools from bilstien in the kit). The damping and firmness are controlled by the PASM button (normal and sport). Sorry for the dumb questions. I could have have fully adjustable PSS9s but elected to keep using PASM..

  3. Wow, I´d checked the FVD site to look for the steering wheel of my dreams and I saw one with paddle shifters but I did´t noticed one (the most expensive, by the way) with paddle shifter and multifunction buttons. The one they have listed has a leather/carbon fiber combination, I´m going to check If they have one in only leather or leather/alcantara combination.

Thanks for your reply, now I just have to look for a transmission software Patch.

Excellent!. If anyone made the wheel you are looking for - it would be FVD. Like I wrote before, I love my FVD paddle shifter. Although I do hit the horn button whilst changing gears sometimes. I'm not sure what patch you are writing about, but my install was a complete drop-in - no software changes at all.

  5. Hi,

You can get race gas in Redwood City, Ca.

Do you live anywhere close? The small cans

of Techron are a waste of money. You really want

    101 octane gas.

    Paul

    Hi Paul!

Where is in Redwood City? Do you have the address? I like to try it with my 05 997s. And how do you mix them? Is it half tank of 101 octane plus the other half super unleaded?

    giahan,

Looks like your are in San Jose...there is a 76 at 3010 Almaden Expwy (at Foxworthy Ave) that also sells racing fuel (100 octane). I believe they have a blending chart that shows how to mix with premium to get to target octane ratings.

    See http://personal.linkline.com/dbarton/Unlea...l_in_SoCal.html

    And http://www.ranney.com/mjr/fuel_blend.html

    And http://www.idavette.net/hib/fuel/upd/Blend%20Chart%2090.pdf

:) You're right...I'm in San Jose! I have a Supercharge in my 05 997s so can I just add about half tank of 100 octane when my tank is empty without adding any other regular gasoline? Is this engine design to run 100 plus octane?

My understanding is that the only damage you would do is to your bank account.

The pump with the racing fuel is right next to the regular fuels, so you can do the blend right at the pump to get to whatever your target octane is. The price/performance increase as you go to higher octanes is such that you would not likely want to go with pure racing fuel for street driving.

    See also http://www.motortrend.com/features/perform...fuel/index.html

You could also disconnect the battery (negative terminal) for about 15 seconds to reset the adapted ECU programming. You'll get error lights for PSM & PASM at first - they go away after you drive....

  6. Hi,

I got the 2005 Boxter a couple weeks ago, but I am not very satisfied with the sound. I really like the sound after 5000 RPM.

Anyway, I am planning to get Fabspeed, or Tubi or AWE. But I have no idea which is good. Price wise, Fabspeed looks nice.

And I want to know where to buy or to install it. I live in Encino CA. Does anyone know the good shop? And I also want to know which muffler is good.

    Thank you for reading this.

I have a 997s. I tried fabspeed and then Tubi. I LOVE the tubi sound. Check out the shop in the link, I trust them and they are not too far from you.

  7. Okay, so I was rushing home yesterday, not feeling well and I was speeding in the TT (go figure). On my radar detector, I have X-Band disabled as California has not used X-Band radar in years and don't remember the last time I saw an officer using X-Band.

But he got me going 83, radar detector never went off. Anyone in CA noticed X-band recently or heard anything?

And yes, thank goodness that I'm a giving guy and donated to the wonderful organization of the CHP 11-99 Foundation. It saved my behind just as it does for the spouses of those great officers.

    :thankyou:

    Ben

I leave everything on for my V1, just in case. I did hit some x-band up north in Kali - near cambria, but not anywhere else that i remember. Maybe this forum can help: http://www.radardetector.net/

  8. On the various forums, I have seen stock rear wheel horsepower figures varying from 290 to 310 for the S model. There is, apparently, a high variation in results and repeatability from various dynamometers, which is also dependent on how the machine is operated. The car will need several pulls to adapt the ECU to maximum performance. Loss in the drivetrain is generally considered to be 16 to 17 percent for rear wheel drive, 20 percent for all wheel drive. It looks like if it wasn't done on the same dyno, same day, same operator and correctly, you can't compare numbers with any assurance of being right.

    Thank you!

  9. Check out this website...

    http://www.autopia-carcare.com/

I used the swirl remover product (applied three times like the instruction) with a Porter Cable buffer. Most swirl marks were gone except for those deeper one. I have a dark red car and the production is especially for darker cars. This product doesn't remove clearcoat but to fill it. It came out really good.

Remember to wax it after, or the swirl marks will show up again after a few months. There are instructions on the website too.

Like MY996TT writes, get a porter cable or equiv. polisher. And check out that website. I have tried all sorts of products on my black 997C2S - the only brand to fill or remove clear coat scratches pretty quickly is Griots machine polish 3. I've tried zaino, p21s, sonus, mothers. meguires (sp) and others. Nothing worked as well as griots. And you must wax after the polish or use a detail spray..

  10. Same powerplant but with 4 wheel drive... A lot more weight. I personally like to be able to get the rear end lose if I want to (C2S). It is in the end though your personal preference.

Like Summoboy said.. They are all awesome cars. Can't go wrong with any of them!

Good luck and post some pics when you get one!!!

    Phillipj

The C4 and C4S seem to be pretty close to the C2 versions, at least 0-60. But the C2 version have a higher top speed - which may not really matter...... Any Porsche is a blessed gift and wonderful to own and drive. I drive mine daily.

  11. From your signature I can see why you're concerned. Get ahold of the guys at GMG racing in SoCal. They do a lot of the installs on superchargers and I'm sure that Fabryce can point you in a direction. They won't do it kuz they're a large engine performance shop and not a smog station....but they do have an index finger that might be able to point you someplace. Worth a try anyway.

This is the very reason I never SC'd my car.

Txs! I'm familiar with GMG and a couple other places that may help. Yes, I pondered the SC question awhile before I went for it - worth it and I know it passes the running emissions tests, but the visible changes might freak out some people.......

  12. Just a note for California residents.

If you look at the DMV renewal notice it says you must pay the registration fees on time to avoid a penalty, even if you do not have a smog inspection.

Long story, but since I have a 1997 Boxster my car has been smogged 5 times. Last 2 inspections my car was "not ready" for the test prior to the date the fees were due. So I paid my fees on time.

Once the DMV receives your fees you get a notice in the mail that the registration is incomplete because of no smog inspection. The notice also states that once the inspection is done your sticker will be mailed within 30 days.

Keep that notice and your canceled check in the car in case you get stopped for not having the sticker. CHP loves to stop people without a current sticker, because Arnold needs the money. You can still be hassled if you get stopped for not having the sticker.

ED, thanks for answering. I'm told (haven't had to test it yet) I would fail the visual, but be OK on the running tests. Anyone (PM or email or?) know of any "friendly' smog testing stations in southern california that will be ok with engine mods???

  13. Hello everyone. I'm a 31 year old male living in the Atlanta, GA area. I have always been a car fanatic because of my father who owned both a 924 and a 914 when I was younger. I grew up in the back seat of a Porsche and I remember the 924 with it's black and white checked seats. I also remember the 914 and the way my dad would love to take it into corners at full speed. He'd always tell me not to tell my mom when we got home.

Well I have owned 2 S2000's and a 2002 BMW M3 Convertible and they were all great cars, but nothing can compare to the feeling I got last weekend when I finally decided to test drive a 997 C2S Cabrolet. I felt right at home and didn't need much adjustment. I almost forgot that my father taught me how to drive in the 924 and 914 when I was only 9 years old. He would sit me on his lap and let me shift for him.

Needless to say, I have made the decision to come home to the car that has always had my name on it. I'm kind of leaning toward the C4 or C4S because of the wider rear end and increased stability. I also think that I want the GT3 kit because of the aggressive looks. I haven't decided on a color, however, I'm torn between Red, White, and Black... all with black interior with the back seats, middle console, and dash trimming in the exterior paint and color.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am hoping to find my baby by this summer. I have already named her 'Alba" after Jessica. My last sports car was Eva.

Welcome. check out the registry for all of the different looks and modifications we have done to our P-cars. They are wonderful. I'd go with a 997 c2s with the gt3/gt2 aerokit, or move up to a GT3. I believe the C4/C4S is only an inch or so wider in the back, but adds significant weight. In the end, they are all P-cars though and are beautifully crafted sports cars.

  14. Current V1 with "PoP"....................

Which brand do you gentlemen prefer? I read that valentine is top choice, Is that correct in you opinions? I'm in texas so I don't know what type or radar they use.

yes - V1 with PoP. Saved me a few hundred $ up in Northern CA last summer - I was not paying attention to speedo, V1 alerted me in time to back off before seeing the CHP car hidden on a right hand curve. Mount the v1 near the rear view mirror. Search renntech to find hard wire instructions.

  15. It's a disease. We always want more than we have. :P

Yes we want more! Check out the parking lot or lift area of any "speed" shop, including Porsches - there you will find your answer. I've seen several 996 TT owners adding more power - up to 600hp. Same goes for Boxster, 996, and 997 owners. Some people (like me) do feel Porsches need more power, others are perfectly happy with a stock P-car. I needed more power and added a supercharger to my 2005 C2S. Just knowing and being able to use that added power "on demand" is another part of enjoyment that we Porsche owners can have. MORE POWER!!!! oh, and 101 octane gasoline!

  16. It’s great to hear from you Summoboy. Where I live they don’t have any shop which can do dyno, I would have to drive all the way up to San Francisco area if I want to have this done which I don’t plan to do. But a few weeks ago, I did test drive a 06’s 997TT. I didn’t feel any different in the acceleration, thus I’m very happy with my ride right now. :D Very soon our cars will look alike. I just order a Misha911 GT2M wing….. and can’t wait to put it on!

Excellent. Post some new pics when you can...

  17. :o Man that thing looks nice, congrat on the new toy….It’s nice to see that we have similar taste. I just got my first Porsche 2005 S. My next project is to put on a GT3 Wing from Misha. The wings costs about $1300 plus shipping which is not bad compare to the original GT3 from a dealership. My question for you is how much did you pay for your wing and who make it? It’s beautiful! The picture here is from Misha new 997 GT3 wing.

Hey. I paid $2,900 plus about $1,000 for paint and installation. My kit included: GT3 front bumper with splitter and hood vent, GT3 bumper, and GT2M rear spolier. Check out my car in the registry and add yours there!!
