  1. I'm working on a project to attempt to reverse engineer the CAN bus protocols of the ME7.2 for data acquisition and need help. Looks like I will not be getting shop manuals anytime soon. So, is there anyone out there with a shop manual willing to look up where the best place for me to access the CAN bus of my 2001 996 C2? I'm hoping that the OBD-II connector already has it on a couple of the pins or it is at least running somewhere near the fuse box. If not there, which lines that go into the ECU are the CAN bus? Thanks for any help, Bart
  2. Just got back from the dealer ship. They wanted $2200 for the set. Guess I will not be getting shop manuals anytime soon.
  3. I've been investigating various possible data loggers for use at autocross events. I'd really like to leverage the car's onboard sensors. My car has PSM (2001 C2 996 with PSM option). The PSM monitors wheel speed, engine speed, throttle position, gear selection, lateral acceleration, yaw and steering wheel position. Wow.... That also happens to be the complete set (minus GPS) of data that I would log. Now, is there any way I can get at this data at a reasonable sampling rate? Can I hijack the various sensors (split them and use there inputs) perhaps where they go into the PSM unit (if there is such a beast as a box that represents the PSM unit)? I don't have the shop manuals to look at where the wiring goes. If I did, I'd try to figure out if the various sensors (like the ABS wheel encoders that appear to be located right on the brakes) happen to all go to one convient place. Any information on the sensors, there workings, the device they go to, the location of the device would be greatly appreciated. If I do manage to get this project done, I'll be sure to post my results here. Bart
  4. The link appears broken. Where can I get shop manuals and what is a good price (an electronic version of the shop manusl would be awsome).
